I wouldn't call this watch to be in a poor condition or trashed.

The only thing that looks a bit off/weird is the grain on the bracelet/case. I would get that fixed + movement service and done.

There is nice patina and then there is poor condition.

This falls into the poor condition after many years of enjoyment.

Get it refreshed and enjoy it again with a new fresh life.

yeah I agree with slight dents and a scratches. but then maybe this tells the story of the watch you know and youth years.
Every time I walk into a Rolex dealer they are amazed at the color of the bezel.
will take it to a dealer or repair expert and see if the polishing needs to remove substantial steel or not.
thanks again to all. Will post the end results
note that I hate the old bracelet compared to the new ones.

this would bother me personally but I am not part of the "the more beat up the watch looks the more character it has"

the "tool watch" days for Rolex are long gone and I have other watches that I wear every day (BB58, Omega AT41)...I try to take care of my watches as best as I can and clean them regularly at home. that's me, though.
