Date just 36 1978
Hi everyone,
I got hold of an unworn 1978 date just 36. It has the sticker at the back and everything but missing the documents. I received extremely varied offers but I’m not sure what could be a fair price for it. I reckon something around 7k GBP but that’s only based on my research online as I’m not an expert or a holder of a Rolex before. Also there seems to be a black stain on the top of the gold area. Looks like oxidation but I am not sure whether i should attempt to clean it or leave it as is. Appreciate any guidance. Thanks, |

7k GBP might be a bit optimistic, especially if you're selling to a dealer. |

Without pics its very difficult to say but 7k is very optimistic. If its a 16013 without b&p a dealer would probably offer £2.5 - £3k.

Please be aware OP, this could be construed as a sales pitch and is against the rules. It is recommended that you become a pledge member before anything or you may end up with a banned account for a rules violation.

".... everything but missing the documents".
The documents are the only accessory with significant value. Obviously there is no way we can guess at the value without photos, we don't even know the case material (SS, 18k gold, two-tone), the color and style of the dial, etc. However, unless it's a solid 18k example, £7k sounds extremely unlikely. The OP is either on a fishing expedition, or naively looking at ridiculous C24 asking prices.

'78 (40 years old) Rolex with back sticker, but nothing else.
Doesn't sound authentic to me.

It would need to be a boiler plate, Stella or something else exotic to elicit £7k if steel or bi-colour.Guessing bi-colour and stain is common tarnish on bezel. Photo pls.
