Overtime with natural inflation (not considering currently) it will retain value or go up. It's a brand you don't have to worry about unlike micros or others.

Actually there is no right or wrong. If you are confident prices will drop further, why not? Since it’s still in production and I’m sure you won’t mind saving afew grand to own the watch you love. However if prices rebound before you secure one, then that will be your loss.

Provided you can sell at a good price, that depends on your skills, network and sheer luck

Good luck on reselling if you bought anywhere near 30. I think this piece is moving sub 20 right now and very slowly. Nobody is buying grey right now.

The real answer is that the friction/transaction costs will eat away any margin.

I think you’re going to get killed on the bid ask right now. I think ask is only down a relatively small amount but bid has essentially disappeared. If you sell now I think be sure you’re done with the watch because you will be unlikely to be able to buy it back for same money unless market falls much more. However, it should be noted that if you sell it now at a discount and buy it back later for even the same amount, you are effectively still in the watch for what you initially paid.

Just keep it and enjoy. The money is spent, if you were OK with the deal back then, why would you worry about it now?

I do not think it will go down to retail levels, so think about what you are really gaining here.

You’re right. Money it’s gone and I’m not worried.

I was just thinking it might be possible to sell now buy later for under 20… But, as a lot of members pointed out, its a big risk with not being able to get the watch again and likely to pay more later

I’m in pretty deep on a Platona and some other stuff I got BNIB from non-ADs during Covid. I’m just keeping it and wearing it as usual because I was fine with the prices then and don’t want to have to search for this stuff again. Just because prices fall doesn’t flood the market with BNIB supply.

As I said before your best case is probably buying it back for what you sold it for, so you’re net-net in same exact place as if you hadn’t sold it at all.

It could be 6 months or 4 years or 8 years before Rolex watches move upwards in value again. No one knows.

Now is not a good time to sell IMO unless you can at least get your money back out of it for what you paid during the price peak…but given current circumstances I think that will be difficult to do.

I would hold, unless you get into a bad situation and simply need to cut your losses and get out.

Buy high, sell low, not a solid strategy.

Buy and keep is the only time proven strategy for increase in worth (and watch wearing happiness ,if that is still important ???).

Short term hysterics are amusing .

The answer is pretty clear.

It was his "investment" piece.

It’s worth the price that you paid if you keep it regardless of whether price goes up or down.

I'd sell, cut your losses. Don't fall victim to sunk cost fallacy.
