"Semi-Zorro" 16610 dials from 2002-2006
Maybe I'm out of the loop on this, but I just noticed my 16610 (and some others from 2002-2006ish, plus some service dials) has a an "S" in "Submariner" that is kinda flat and backwards Z-like. Not as much as a "Zorro dial" from the late 1980's but somewhat.
Here's a comparison of typical, Zorro, and what I'm calling "semi-Zorro": My bad if this is already an established dial variant, just a meaningless little variation I hadn't noticed before. |

Yes, those "Z" dials are super cool, and not that common. The first was on the 168000 (below a 9.3 million), but only on the very first batch of the dials, aka MK1.

I've heard the Zs sell for double what the S sells for. Believe it or not!!!

That is kinda dumb. It's not like you invaded a neighboring country against their will.

Thanks for the input, everyone. Here's a shot of my 16610 from ~2004. The S is pretty flat but it's definitely not as flat as a full-blown Zorro dial:
