New Warranty Card - How do you know?
For the highly coveted dials like turquoise, meteorite, green daytona, etc...how do you know that a preowned watch you are buying came originally in that premium configuration? The green/white card often specifies dial but the new green card does not.

The watch has serials.
For vintages; Rolex has hand written & type written registry in Geneva; to indicate mvmt number, dial color, markers (Roman/Arabic), diamond markers, and any new mvmt addendum or repair notes. For modern post 1990s; it’s all computerized. RSC just need to key in the serials on ya watch & everything from fluted to smooth bezel, Oyster or Jubilee links, any purchase of additional links or longer OysterFlex, service/repair history, dial color, etc - will show up in their system. Even record of the watch if reported as stolen to the Geneva office (rarely happens). Don’t try to mod, and if u do, pls remove the mod before shipping to RSC/show to AD: else warranty will be voided |

The white tag has the specific dial type for the watch in question.

I would also question whether the dial is real on those hard-to-get dials as Rolex is not keen to swap out a dial for a green dial on a YG Daytona, if dial swap is a concern.

Unfortunately, IMHO, there is no surefire way here short of sending it to an RSC unless an AD has access to the identical database RSC does, which I would highly doubt they do (likely too much liability).
IMHO, with these high-demand references that can sell for multiple times a very similar reference (e.g., turquoise OP vs silver OP), I think there is a real threat of forgeries getting past those who historically are able to easily identify them in the situation of a criminal taking a factory watch and using a forged dial and forged white tag, as the watch would then pass many of the historic means used to authenticate, right up to checking the movement itself. Presumably, RSC would match the watch's SN to a master database that would list the watch specifics, including dial color. With as much as some of these high-demand references are selling for on the secondary market, if I was in the situation of purchasing one, I would almost want an escrow service that would send the watch directly to RSC for authentication prior to sale completion, which I highly doubt even exists, as this is such a unique situation. |
