Rolex DD into AP 15450
Been thinking lately of possibly downgrading my 228235 olive dial DD for a 15450 (small wrists) white dial + cash.
Am I making a mistake? The olive dial DD is undeniably a heavy hitter and one of the best PM Rolex models in the entire line up. I'm not gonna lie and say the extra cash wouldn't help in the current macro-economic situation we're all facing but it's not something I NEED at the moment per say.. Opinions/thoughts? TIA. |

I wouldn't do that, RG Day-Date Olive dial is one of the most gorgeous timepiece.
It would be better to add 15450ST to your collection instead of trade or add some money and trade for 15450OR with full rose gold bracelet. I have both RG Day-Date Olive dial and RG 15500OR and really love both of them.

I prefer the DD and the combination you have is great and difficult to obtain. If you do not need the money and the watch is not a must have while not wait, look at other options and see what strikes you. If you really were head over heels for the AP we would be seeing an incoming. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

I am usually very pro trading Rolex to AP but the RG olive DD is just so good. If it's a move you need to do to cash in some money that's obviously a different consideration.

I am a big fan of AP and the 15450st, but I would not trade in the Olive DD. It’s the most stunning combination of all the DD’s. I’d recommend adding the AP to your collection instead.

i have a 15450 and wouldn't do that trade, unless the DD is way too big on you and you don't wear it, in which case you could always downgrade to a 15450 and dd36?

Thank you for everyone's opinions. No I am not strapped for cash at this moment in my life. I just don't want to pay secondary anymore and getting a 15550 retail seems close to impossible for me unfortunately.
I will be adding a 15450 (maybe a 15550) to my collection one day instead. I wear my DD for all occasions: suit, casual, etc and I love the versatility of it. |

I have owned both, you will miss the DD, that dial is spectacular, it is one of the very few watches I miss and have contemplated adding back to the collection. One thing to consider, the AP is more versatile and will bring less attention than a full RG DD which is one less thing to worry when wearing out. I would keep the DD, wait and save to put the funds toward a 15202 as an addition.
