Daily Winding Ritual?

Anybody else wind their watches regularly to prevent having to reset them when their time is up on the rotation? It is a daily ritual - at least when I am in the office - to wind all of my manual and automatic watches. It is a nice break in the morning and then I can just grab them and wear them without having to wind and set them. I can't be the only one of this group to manually wind their watches daily, no?

With these watches being -4/+6 a day, I don't bother with daily winding to be honest.

I don’t do anything similar to your ritual. Im winding the watch when I want to wear it on the wrist.

Nope, not as a standard routine.

I have kept a watch wound when I know that the one I have presently on will be changed out within a few days. Generally, I don't have any issues with taking a minute or so to reset and wind a watch when I change.

I let my watches wind down if I don't wear them. In the morning I pick a watch, wind/set it if needed and go about my business. It takes less than a minute.

On the first of the month, I give all my watches enough of a wind to get them moving in case I didn't wear them recently.

No, I don't see the point keeping my movements running if I don't wear the watch for a while with the exception being my 126610LN because, if I experience the 3235 movement issue, I want it to be within the warranty period.

I enjoy setting my watches. If I’m not wearing them, I’m not winding them

Personally I try to avoid unscrewing the crown as much as possible to prevent stripping the threads from excessive use. Maybe too cautious but don’t like to do it more than necessary. Sometimes I will choose which watch to wear based simply on which watch is already running.

I don't wind them daily and let them "rest". I do rotate my watch often. Now that I work from home, I wear a watch during the day, and a different watch in the evening/night. When I find a watch it out of power, I'd reset the time and wind a few other as well.

My wife has 2 Rolex and 1 Tudor in a case, and she doesn't wind her watch, so every few days I reset the time and wind all of them for her.

There was a time when I would periodically wind my watches to keep them running. I eventually stopped that routine realizing that they are easy to set anyway.

No. I just never thought of doing something like this. I also don’t set the dates on watches I wear unless they have a quickset feature. Even then, it’s 50/50.

As I vary the watches I wear I only wind when I switch watches. Sometimes I wear a watch for a week at a time nonstop.

I have two watches (TT DJ 16013 and Railmaster 2503.52). I love both of them. I wear one for a year or two and then switch to the other. Both are automatics and keep excellent time.

Right now the Omega Railmaster is up in rotation. It gains about 2 seconds each day. So, I set it 25 seconds behind and after 25 days it's running about 25 seconds ahead. I then unscrew the crown, wind it 25 to 30 turns, set it back so it's 25 seconds behind again and start all over. Even though I'm not very active, this seems to do it. However, I do wear my watch 16 to 17 hours a day.

I’m a culprit in this same practice as well. I simply rotate the crowns 15 turns or so almost every morning and let them be. The only 2 watches I don’t do this too are the manual wind movements such as my Pam111 & 3592 speedy.

Daily watch, no. The rest I wind and set when I want to wear one. No set routine for me.

Actually I couldn't think of anything worse than winding 10 watches everyday.

Plus you'd have to correct the time after a a few weeks anyways, and it's good to give the watch a rest no?

I used to wind the watches I wasn't wearing on a daily basis, after a while though I felt like I may be adding unnecessary wear & tear to the movement/crown so I just stopped doing that. Resetting the date/time isn't too much of a hassle anyway.

I do ponder if I'd resume winding the watch daily if I added an Annual Calendar though, I think I would.

I let them all wind down... I wind and set the time & date (if equipped) whenever it's back in rotation.

I will wind the one I know I’ll be switching to in the evening or the next day. I know it only takes a minute, but I enjoy knowing they’re ready to go.

I would wind them a lot back when I had a couple watches when I first started collecting but after 20+ years of this hobby absolutely no time to wind them all…
