I'm glad they don't use it. One of thing that has always been iconographic for me with Rolexes is the "flash" you can see off the watch at a little distance. My first real life exposure to Rolexes was in college at 'SC. I still remember rushing to morning classes seeing flashes of Subbies and DJs.

Good point. Some other thoughts:
  • Many other Swiss Manufactures are doing it (Omega, Breitling, TAG...etc), so Rolex doesn't do it to be different. Rolex likes leading the crowd, not following it.
  • AR Coating is not a permanent treatment. Over time nicks and scratches soon cover the surface. This happened to my Planet Ocean, a little irritating.
