Jazz Serie 1 - A different kind of Photography

A place which had kinda/sorta slipped my mind in Montreal, the kind of place that even before it was featured in a movie I would tell my friends, "It's the kind of place you only see in a Movie..." It is that place and then some. Yesterday I was there and, because this is Montreal, I asked the barmaid, "Can I take pictures of the band?" Of course she said yes, no problem and what a Jazz band! The Johnny Scott Quintet, excellent old school Jazz.

The place of course was known in Montreal as "Biddle's" and will always been known as such to me but they now call it "The House of Jazz" same place just bigger and they now add a $5 fee per person to your tab, which is a'right by me. I am just sorry I never took pictures of Charlie Biddle way back when I used to go to that place.

BTW be careful how much access you give a guy with a Camera - I took 198 pictures yesterday :-)

I'll go again and again I love it. Most of my pictures were taken with a 50mm prime lens wide open! Glad I picked it up on Friday for another shoot I am doing later today... I had to practice with it soooo what do you think? Yay or nay?

This one below is from the second band of the night, Michelle Sweeney, Jazz with personnality and boy can she wake up a room in a good way!

Nice photos! I'm a huge jazz fan and love looking at pictures of the musicians playing live. Doesn't Oscar Peterson live in Montreal? That man can play a sweet piano tune, good enough to make a grown man cry.

Fantastic pics, Patrick. As Peter said, you can almost hear the music.

Fantastic pictures!
I've never bothered to use my 50mm prime, but after looking at shots like yours you've inspired me to give it a go!
