Why can't they bring back less "shiny" GMT2??

I'm in medicine. Being conservative in dress is an old tradition. That doesn't matter too much to me, but not looking too bling in front of my patients that maybe from a disadvantaged background is. I want GMT function, but both the Jubilee and PCL are too much for me. Am I alone?

Look at this brushed beauty. Will it ever comeback?

Simple answer… NO.

The only way you’re getting a fully brushed bracelet is to go to the Tudor Diet Pepsi.

Just wear an Apple watch. That's the most commonly seen watch in hospital these days...

First, because going backwards in level of “shiny” wouldn’t be in the spirit of cosmopolitan.

Second, if you’re a quality doctor who cares for his patients I don’t think they’ll hold it against you that your education and career have afforded you nice things in life.

You can always acquire a more dated piece that meets your requirements for lack of polishing, if you don’t mind buying gray.

Asking for the watch to match your lifestyle is silly. Your lifestyle should match the watch.

I wear my Kermit or green OP (brushed) at the hospital. Blingier watches I reserve for other times.

I think the PCL is appropriate as it's the watch more for the frequent biz traveler than say a mountaineer. It's more Pan Am or Gulfstream and less oil rig helicopter. (My analogy is all over the place today haha)

Your patients want you to wear something expensive. Not diamond crested expensive but GMT with PCL is perfectly fine. After all they are into the whole God complex thing. I want my doctor to be the alpha. I don't need him humble. I need him to be good. Just my 2 cents on that topic.

I was going to basically say the same thing. If you’re a popular and well liked Doctor, then the watch doesn’t matter. You’ll still be a popular and well liked Doctor no matter what watch you wear.

If you’re not a popular and well liked Doctor, then the watch still doesn’t matter. You still won’t be a popular and well liked Doctor no matter what watch you wear.

I don't own a 6 digit PCL GMT but If I ever acquire one the first thing I will do is have it sent off somewhere to be brushed out. I cant stand the PCL look on a "tool" watch.

According to many posts in this forum, no one notices other people's watches.

If you're not comfortable wearing it, then don't.

While you're at work, you should wear something like this Timex Marlin, unless you need to keep time in more than one timezone while at work.

If not, the Marlin is a nice looking watch that won't draw too much attention.

If you do need your GMT at work, have the bracelet brushed or do it yourself.

I personally don't believe that PCLs are too blingy for anything, except maybe mud-wrestling.

If you have to send off a watch to meet your “specs”, why buy it in the first place?

No I totally agree with you. I am not a PCL fan. Many would probably crucify me for this but you could always brush out the PCLs… I might if I ever score the GMT I want.

I’m sure someone said it but have the bracelet brushed. I’ve seen a few GMTs and a couple
Daytonas with fully brushed bracelets and they look great. Honestly I prefer fully brushed oyster bracelets and the pcls on the jubilees.

126710BLRO on a brushed Oyster bracelet is my ideal configuration. 11 series SS Sub bracelet will fit. Or get the PCLs on the GMT Master bracelet brushed.

I was going to get mine brushed. However, I more recently got my first Rolex on Jubilee and the wearing comfort is so good that I'm now waiting for my RSC to get a Jubilee for my BLRO. I can keep the Oyster, so brushing is still a possibility. On Jubilee, it's a closer homage to the original 6542, but still shiny.

I know its not the right forum, but IMHO Omega got it right with the 321 flat link bracelet ...

Brushed centers, polished outers

The SA I work with has me down for the watch I want, but also a 126710BLNR. I think I would pass that up because of the bling. I, too, like the brushed alternative.

Like the original, it was meant to be a dress sports watch " Cosmopolitan " they said worn by pilots (well dressed) under their sleeves ... so it makes sense to have some bling or polished parts ...

I remember there were some threads and discussions about PCL's a few years ago. A fair number of people didn't care for the "bling" either. A few showed their results from brushing the PCL's with a Scotch Brite pad. TBH, it came out great and looked as if it was a factory finish. If some of you are brave enough to give it a shot, that might be an option?

I used to wear my Sub's glidelock bracelet on my BLNR. Best of both worlds. But it left my Sub on a NATO. I eventually swapped them back and just wear my Standard PCL bracelet on the BLNR. If I want low key I'll wear my non Rolex watches that are on leather straps or NATOs.

I do anesthesia and critical care.

For anesthesia times I could care less. No one cares. In the ICU when telling people that their loved one won't recover, etc it seems a bit much in my mind. Maybe I'm wrong.

Great discussion though.
