Trade Down from 18k Ladies Yachtmaster to Steel & Platinum
I really need some advice. I bought my wife an 18k Yellow Gold Ladies Yachtmaster about 12 years ago. She has probably worn it less than 20 times. It just sits in the drawer. She has decided that she wants a Platinum and Steel Yachtmaster, and that she would wear it.
Is there any good way to make a trade like this? The watch we have is perfect, complete with box and papers. Really just don't know where to start. Any suggestions are much appreciated! Best Regards, Gerry |

Have you checked at a Dealer on what they would do for you on such a trade......

Just to prepare you, going to AD to trade in a watch, is like going to a dealership to trade in a car, they are going to give you as little as possible. You can do a lot better try to sell the watch in a private sale, just watch out for scams, they are every where! Spend some time here old reviewing posts of what to watch out for. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions, we're more than happy to help! Good luck

Thanks for the advice. I have been thinking about this almost two years since I joined. It took me this long to post about it... I promise not to rush into any deal, the 18k YM is really worth too much!

Last trade I did. I got the price of the watch I wanted, and then showed the watch I had and asked how much will you give me on a trade Trade prices ranged from $1400-$2500.
I compared the trade price to what the watch was selling for. Then I neigotiated the price of the new watch. My wife also has a watch she never wears and we are planning on doing the same thing. out with the old and in with the new Good luck Tom Ps. The AD's gave me the worst prices on both ends. So I went to a local grey dealer who I trust. Last edited by tommypit; 24 June 2009 at 08:06 AM.. Reason: forgot something |

Is she considering the mid-size Plat YM? She may like the size better. I have a Mid-Size TT YM which is 35mm and a 40mm Plat YM that I wear and I really like both.
