Messed up my crown clasp

I was trying to unscrew my bracelet to size it but its not going and scared of messing up the head of the screw so i decided the boiling water but still doesnt work. then i decided to do the lighter to heat up the threads and turned perfect then i noticed the discoloration on the crown clasp.i was so pissed. Is there anyway to remove the discoloration on the crown clasp?

I didn’t burn mine but I discovered mine still had this on after pickup and thought I scratched the heck out of it. Breathed sigh of relief when I discovered it was film. Lol

Those OEM stickers are more valuable than the clasp

I was excited to see this thread, as I struggled with a screw on my 214270 and used gas heat to loosen it up.

It worked but it slightly discolored a small part of the clasp..I haven't looked at it in months! Just checked and it's less discolored but not 100%..I just don't think about it anymore..I was interested in what would safely remove the discoloration, short of creating more of a problem!

Kind of reminds me of those videos where they use a kitchen blowtorch to heat, then loosen the adhesive used to bond the cyclops lens to the crystal before removing it with a mini trowel or knife.

Remember you don’t wanna cook your watch like a hotdog. If you overheat the case you run the risk of drying up the oils. Best way to remove pesky screws is to use a hairdryer. But before you do that wrap the case with a wet paper towel and then blow air towards the bracelet away from the case. That should loosen up the Loctite on the threads.

Don't believe everything you read. Just stay in the 'good' parts of town and you'll be fine.

Problem with the good parts of town is the bad people find their way there too.

In your first photo before I read your 2nd posting, I couldn't figure out why you had a gold crown on your full SS piece!

When I have had this happen I used a soldering iron with a tip. Just heat up the end with the threads and it comes loose.

I always use a lighter on my new watches. Don’t even try other methods first. Never had an issue. A second or two is all you need.
