Can anyone help verify authenticity on this 16610 Submariner?
As the title states, I’m wanting to purchase a 16610 sub for a great deal, only issue is that it doesn’t come with papers or box. First time buying a naked watch and although the seller has good references, I like to play it safe. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks guys!

Crown guards have been badly polished, lugs look a little uneven. The crown is later and possibly fake, looks too wide for a 703 or 704. You need pictures of the movement, the case back stampings and the engravings both sides between the lugs. There are some very convincing franken watches of these early 16610’s.

Based on the butchered crown guards alone I would avoid this watch.

You really won’t know for sure until you open up the caseback. All parts need to be verified on this piece as well. Bracelet, crown, case, bezel, insert, etc. If you cannot be sure of the seller be careful.

The pip on the bezel is off centre too. Avoid!
