Buyers regret or not ? buying 2 of the same watch model as different watch dials
Hi this is not necessarily have to apply to Rolex, but I recently purchased a beautiful blue dial diver watch. I am happy with the movement, power reserve, it has no date, 43 mm with 22mm lug to lug. Extreme powerful bright blue lumes, can't really swap it out when I wear it.
HOWEVER... as many of you could appreciate or understand, that of your collection, you have dials of different colors. I have been searching left, right, and centre, for either a silver dial, or a white one. At least something that I can physically get my hands on and buy now. I 'could' wait for the Tudor silver black bay 41mm, but... that's the only silver dial that I am even remotely interested in. I found only 1 white dial which I do like, however it is exactly the same model as my recent blue. Question - would you ever buy 2 of the same model, just as different dial colors ? I do not mean you buy 2 submariners, of 2 different colors, but different era, or year, I mean exactly the same year, same model. Just 2 different colors. Do most people simple do not do that ? and just get another brand? I have owned 2 of the same brand before, but always been different models and years of release. If you have owned 2 of the same model, does it fatigue you after a short time, and you end up parting with one of them ?

Yes, I have a BB58 Blue and can’t get the Black one out of my mind. I think I will end up having both at some point.

Black dials ?
Hmmm yes I understand. However it seems that blue and black dials are the most common in the majority of brands.
Have you considered Longines and Hamilton ? There is a black with variations : https://www.hamiltonwatch.com/en-int...cuba-auto.html I got the blusey, check the y0utube for reviews, so you can see the sheen of the dials, and the lumes. The black, blue and white dials display bright, powerful blue lumes. The black you can also get in a rubber strap.

Years ago I did own a black dial and white dial 16520 Daytona at the same time. The black one was my grail, but I found the white dial at MSRP first so I bought that. Then 6 months later found a new black one at MSRP. I kept both for several years. The white dial was very nice, but it was a bit redundant (as I owned other versions of Daytonas at the time too). So eventually I traded the white dial toward another Rolex.

Zero regrets. There are two more variants that I may add on top of this but no immediate plans. To me this version marine is the best bargain in all luxury watches and the dial is the star so I love having different versions of it.

Thanks everyone. Thanks for uploading the bewties Phily.
the two tone sub was supposed to be my grail. Years ago, it was nearly within my financial reach, now that is a complete distant impossibility. Just cannot start spending 30k or more for 1 time pre-owned time piece. With the Hamilton I have now, it ticks about every box, there's no way I'd part with it. My GV, meets my requirements in terms of a black dial, but the Hamilton same model as a black dial is so lovely. The white is what I have in mind. I simply cannot find any white dial in existence, that I would find any interest in. There is a Milgauss white dial, but at least 12 times the price of the Hamilton. That being said, that does not mean I have closed all doors to another Rolex. On the contrary, I still have so many gaps in my collection that I need to fill. Should I wait, maybe an alternate white dial will grab my attention. But to surpass a 43mm size, 80 hours power reserve, 300 m water resistance, bright blue long-brightness lumens, beautiful, solid brushed bracelet, ceramic 60-click (no push-back) bezel with lumen on the 12 o clock, crown protector. How sad is it that you spend weeks searching the internet, y0utube, official watch manufacturer websites to find an alternate to convince yourself that something else is out there that is a better replacement

Guilty as charged. To answer you’re question, some people do, but most like variety in their dial, design, function, strap, etc…. No fatigue as I use a Rubber B here and there to change things up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Reminds me of a collection a jeweler that I buy watches from showed me.
I think the lady had 5 or 6 Bulgari Serpenti watches. But the one that really killed me was, she had bought 2 identical Franck Muller watches...... with different colored leather straps. I think they were $4,000-5000 watches, and she bought a second one rather than have to change colored straps back and forth. |

Can I throw a spanner in the works ?
If I had to pick one of these... (both 43mm) This in white ? https://www.hamiltonwatch.com/en-int...cuba-auto.html Or this in black ? (keep in mind I have a Milgauss GV, which is a 40 mm dial). https://www.hamiltonwatch.com/en-int...cuba-auto.html check the comparison on y0utube, so you can see just how clean, crisp, and vivid these dials are. The website shows them as much duller than what can be seen on y0utube.

It’s not an expensive watch, but I have these 2. Got the blue first, then when the green was released, I had to add it to the collection.
I have some high end pieces as well to which I would not hesitate adding different colored dials. |

I have been thinking the same thing …
I currently own a Black Dial / Black Bezel Rolex Daytona, and am on the Waitlist for the White Dial / Black Bezel Daytona. Too similar ??? Redundant ? I also own the “Wimbledon” Dial DateJust … and wonder if it would be too similar to get the same watch with a Blue or Green dial ? |

Big Tex, got to ask yourself at least a few questions :
1. How many other green dials and blue dials to you currently own ? 2. Would you see yourself more likely to wear a blue dial than a green dial on your weekly watch wearing rotation? 3. Is blue more of your favorite color in general or green ? 4. Is it easier to find a replacement blue dial or green (I am certain there are far more blue dials overall than green) I am considering either white or black dial. So to answer the above questions : white or black 1. I currently have a Milgauss GV, so the white dial fills is a larger void (0 white dials). 2. I could easily fit either into my weekly rotation, but white would be my Monday watch 3. white or black more my favorite ? Neither I would say. 4. Far more easier to find a black dial than a white.

Not technically the same model number, but close enough for your question.

If you really like the watch, I can totally understand getting it in two different colors, and I've considered doing this myself. The two Hamiltons you posted look great and each could be worn with different clothing.

Hi Donas, those are 2 very nice dials. Best of both worlds.
Phily, very devine dials. Must be proud of your babies :) yes I agree Justino. It's settled, the white looks like the promising option. Perfect for summer. I took off my Rollie today, and put on the blue Hamilton 43mm, it's much weightier, feels to good to wear. You can appreciate sometimes when you put on a dial, it's as grail as it gets IF it is your favorite dial, and is the perfect size, and feels the ideal weight. If it feels just a bit too light or too weighty, you will feel that on your arm. THIS dial... I just had to put on when I got home from work. I hope to get another one soon.
