Should I Trade Speedmaster for OP 41

Current collection is a Submariner Date 41 and 3861 Hesalite Speedmaster. I am debating selling my Speedmaster to fund an OP 41.

Is this a good or bad move? Any insight would be great! Very new into collecting so any direction would be awesome!

bad move......personally I'd keep your speedy as it's an iconic sports watch along with your Sub

OP41 is nothing special of a watch but an entry level Rolex

Current collection: 1) Rolex Submariner(116610LV), 2) Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional(311.30.42.30.01.006), 3) Rolex GMT-Master II(126710BLNR), 4) Breitling B01 Navitimer 43(AB0138211B1A1)

I currently own the green dial OP 41 & Tbh with you I don’t find it very interesting imo, it’s basic, crafted really well but it just lacks that Rolex feeling. I’m pretty sure it’ll be leaving my collection really soon.

What color? If you get one at and AD, why not. You can always add a speedy later.

For me it’s a strong no. I own both and the speedy is 2 steps higher the OP. Not the same league. Just manage to get both as well if you can, but keep in mind OP 41 remains an entry level Rolex with no particular complication. Hype aside.

No.
It doesn’t matter where you are on the horological ladder, a Speedy is always relevant. The OP looses its appeal soon as you move into sport Rolex.

I would agree. You can re-add a hesalite speedie later.

Just buy what you like. I’d rather have an OP than either a Speedy or the new Sub (although not in green.)

In love the OP as it’s so versatile. One of the only true “one watch for every occasion“ pieces around. I had a grape red 36.

I don’t have that anymore, but I still have my Speedy.

Good move only if you plan to buy the sapphire sandwich later. Otherwise a hard no.

Your thoughts on this will be much more useful and relevant than other people’s.

Buy an OP and then see which if any you want to sell?

Ones a manual wind chronograph and one is an automatic time only watch. They couldn’t be any more different. I’d far rather have the Speedy, but that’s me

Only way I’d say, “no,” is if you owned an Ed White 321.

But, opinions are like @#$&&&, everyone has one..

If this is a 1:1 trade, Speedmaster to OP41, then absolutely yes, no-brainer. Realistically, chances are you'll have to add cash and you will probably take a heavy hit on the Omega. The good news is that if you regret selling it for whatever reason, it will be very easy to replace.

I'd say yes if you're going to get a "stella" dial colour, those are nice and in the future you'll be glad you did.

They are very different watches. It couldn't be more subjective. Of more relevance is what you think and why you are considering it.

For the sake of just “collecting”, no way. If you like the OP more than the Speedy then yes.
Sub and Speedy is such a perfect pair.

I would say “No” ……………… but, since you’re asking, that usually means one wants confirmation of a decision already made.

Do what makes you happy.

I had an OP 41 but gave it to my nephew.
The Speedmaster can be swapped for a Daytona SS, possibly.

I wouldn't do it but if you find yourself not wearing the Speedy and think you'll like the OP more, then go for it.

How long have you had the Speedy?

If you can get OP at MSRP, get it with your cash.

After that, see which one sings to you better so you know which one to keep.

What do you think of the Omega Aqua Terra? It’s an underrated watch. Fabulous movement. Versatile.

Or the datejust, smooth bezel, Oyster bracelet?

Where am I going with this? If your eyes gloss over, the OP41 is very similar stylistically. Just has the Rolex name and no date.

3861 is my favourite watch, it has a chrono, the OP doesn't give you anything you don't already have.

Pass. I had a 39mm OP I got from an AD in 2019 and it lasted about 2 months.
