Denied by my AD but still got lucky

With the upcoming birth of our second child (WOO HOO!), I had contacted my AD in April and let her know I was hoping to buy a birth year Sub 126610LV or GMT 126710BLRO on jubilee. It turns out that with our current spending history (126610LN, a Zenith El Primero Chronomaster and some jewelry repair/service), I won't be eligible for a new watch until next year.

This month, three weeks after my son was born, I decided to buy myself a Sea-Dweller 116600, that was available in new condition. I've bought vintage watches at auction in the past, and (for now) prefer to pay for a watch at my top price versus a dealer's top price.

It isn't my kid's birth year watch but as a birthday gift to myself, it still has significance. There's no telling if the kid will actually care about that (or watches) in the future but I'm still looking forward to passing it on. Until then, we're just delighted that our precious boy is healthy, eats, sleeps and poops non-stop. As for the watch, that's cool too.

I love it! I have an 8 month old and was delighted to use the bezel to time her feedings : )

Congrats! I hear ya on the frustration from the AD not getting a birth year. Got an IWC from this year to mark my daughters birth, and recently acquired a GMT from a few years before my sons birth. I’ve loved getting shots with them playing with the watches, hoping it’ll intrigue them more as they get older

Just my opinion !

For some strange reason, two words conveyed to the AD comes to mind …………………. “POUND SAND !”

About four other expletives also comes to mind, but rules and all ………….

Congrats!

We had our first in April 2021 so that picture of the pump parts hits home. I actually came to not mind washing them as I’d put on a YouTube video on my phone and zone out for a couple minutes.

Congratulations on the birth of your son. Sorry you didn't get a birth year watch, but thankfully he's happy and healthy, and you got another watch that is gorgeous!

Congrats mate. This is an awesome watch. I regret selling it!

The best modern rolex diver by far in my opinion. Enjoy!

I've read analysis from several generally calm financial types predicting another 25% haircut in the stock market next year. Your AD may be calling and begging you to buy something.

Can. Not. Wait.
