Buying an AP Watch from Boutique
Hi everyone,
I am looking to purchase a never worn/new 50th anniversary model AP from a third party. I was told that you can only get these watches without stickers/tape from AP because they "make the client wear the watch out of the store". Does anyone know if this is correct? The seller said I would not be able to find a brand new watch with real factory stickers. Thanks for all the help! |

I wanted to wear mine out the store so I couldn’t tell you. That said, your first statement seems incongruent with the question.

What doesn't make sense? The first statement is saying that I am looking to get a new watch from a third party and I want to know if I should expect it to have factory stickers or not.

My boutique doesn't allow it. I think it really depends on the boutique and who the customer is, but in general it would be quite rare.

Not from my boutique (everything leaves sized and registered), but there are some outlets leaking new pieces. I'm also sure it wouldn't take a grey dealer a lot of effort to acquire and apply some of the green tape .

Not from an AP boutique. May be possible from an AD.
I think the greys add the stickers. Be careful, a lot of unsavoury characters out there. LuxurySouq in dubai has a good reputation, but shipping and tax to US Is prohibitive Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think the majority of genuine customers would want to get the watchmaker to resize the watch properly there and then at AP. I’ve bought several watches from AP but I expect they would be very suspicious regarding my intentions for the watch if I asked them to leave it unsized and fully stickered, I can’t understand why anyone would request this unless they wanted to immediately flip the watch.

Watching him is my guilty pleasure:) Number of amazing top model he has is testament that entire AD/AP houses game is just inflated and makes us look like idiots. No way I will take part in it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Totally agree with this. The most I do is ask my SA to leave stickers and tags on so I can enjoy the satisfaction of removing them in store prior to getting sized and walking out with it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
