So for example, the so-called "Bluesy" name has been used for all versions of the TT, blue dial Sub, irrespective of age and therefore model number - hence we have the 126613LB, the 116613LB, and the 16613LB all called the "Bluesy".

Then you get models that no-one can decide on the nickname for! So the current green bezel, black dial sub (126610LV) is variously known as the "Starbucks", the "Cermet", even the "Kermit" (again).

Personally I find the reference numbers to be far better and not open to interpretation, but YMMV.
Exactly.

Hopefully the OP will want to learn about Rolex and why the numbers mean what they do and to use the names that the company have given them;

Thank you.

I definitely want to learn about the numbers and what they mean. But where do I start? How do I find all these numbers?

Yep 😂

I think the constant browsing for watches it was does it I’m unfamiliar with ladies reference number to example but you can kinda guess from what each number represents .

If you google “what do Rolex reference numbers mean” I’m sure you’ll quickly find an answer

OK so in the spirit of assisting the OP - here's some descriptions and reference numbers for your original list to help you out -

1. Hulk - SS, Green dial, green ceramic bezel Sub, 116610LV
2. Panda - SS, WD, TT, White dial, black sub-dial Daytona, 116500LN, 116519, 116523, 116509, 6263, 6239 (plus others)
3. Starbucks - SS, Black dial, green ceramic bezel Sub, 126610LV
4. Pepsi - SS, or WG, Black dial, blue and red bezel (ceramic or aluminium), 126710BLRO, 116719BLRO, 16750, 1675
5. Wimbledon - Roman numeral DJ's, various sizes, 126234, 126200, 126231, 126331, 126334, 126300 (plus others)
6. Root Beer - TT or Gold, Black dial, black and brown ceramic bezel GMT, and SS or TT, Brown dial, brown and gold aluminium bezel GMT (also known as 'Tiger Eye', or 'Eye of the Tiger'), 126711CHNR, 126715CHNR, 16713, 16753, 1675/3
7. Batman - SS, Black dial, black and blue bezel GMT, 126710BLNR, 116710BLNR
8. Bluesy - TT, blue dial, blue bezel Sub, 126613LB, 116613LB, 16613LB

plus -

9. Smurf - WG, Blue dial, blue bezel Sub, 116619LB
10. Cookie Monster - WG, Black dial, blue bezel, 126619LB
11. Cermit - same as Starbucks
12. Kermit - Black dial, green aluminium bezel, 16610LV. (also, somewhat inexplicably, same as Starbucks... again)
13. Bruiser - same as Batman (from being "black and blue")
14. Batgirl - A Batman but on a Jubilee bracelet instead of Oyster
15. Bart Simpson - 5513 Sub with gilt dial (making the crown look (very very very slightly) like Bart Simpson's hair)
16. Coke - SS, Black dial, red and black aluminium bezel GMT, 16760, 16710
17. Fat Lady - a 'Coke' but with a slightly thicker movement and thus a fatter case, 16760
18. Sophia Loren - same as Fat Lady
19. Sprite - SS, left hand crown, Black dial, green and black ceramic bezel, 126710VTNR
20. Green Lantern - same as Sprite
21. Polar - SS, white dial Explorer II, 226570, 216570, 16550, 16570
22. Steve McQueen - early SS Explorer II, 1655 (bizarrely named after Steve McQueen even though there's no evidence he ever wore one!)
23. Paul Newman - traditionally a hand-wound panda Daytona with an exotic dial, of the type worn by Paul Newman. Nowadays a few more versions have been given that nickname.
24. John Mayer - YG, Green dial Daytona, 116508
25. Platona - Pt, ice blue dial, brown ceramic bezel Daytona, 116506
26. Serti - a 5 digit Sub with gem-set dial (from the French word "sertir" meaning "to set").
27. Sultan - same as Serti

Plus other random ones that I quite honestly couldn't be bothered to attempt to understand - the 'Superman' (I've seen the blue dial Yachtmaster referred to as the Superman, plus (I think) one of the pepsi models... maybe the meteorite dial version? I dunno). Also the 'Clark Kent' which apparently is another version of the current pepsi? Then we have the 'Godzilla' or the 'Darth Vader' - both (I think!) are the black dial Daytona 116500LN. Frankly, god knows anymore! As I say, I personally find 99% of them to be complete nonsense, but each to their own.

And that’s without really getting into the weeds with minor dial variations that have their own nicknames (of sorts) such as spider dials, stick dials, rail dials, etc

Anyway I’m sure this isn't an exhaustive list of nicknames, but it's a decent enough start. Hope it helps, OP.

Don't feel like you have to learn all the reference numbers to fit in here, just because some people don't like the nicknames. If you like them, use them. Most importantly, enjoy learning and participating here in your own way, at your own pace

Well its not rocket science basically the reference numbers have changed very little over the past 50 years except by changing the first digit of the reference. And except for mostly cosmetic changes and a few movement mods to the models again changed very little over the past 50 odd years.

I felt a bit bad saying, "Google's your friend" yesterday (even though it is probably the best way to increase knowledge and see examples of each model), so that list was just a brain-dump last night. Considering how I dislike most nicknames, I was amazed how many I remembered!

Anyway, hope it's useful to the OP.

You are welcome.

I believe spending time on the Rolex official site and reading their information is the best way.

Andy Warhol was known to wear a gold Cartier tank....he didn't even bother winding it every morning; he was so enamored by the perfect design and proportions, he could care less about telling time!

Actually, he wore a very small 28mm Rolex as well. The picture that I have in my avatar is him wearing that Rolex. It's just hard to tell that it's a Rolex.
