Why the trend? Quick release springbars?
Hello everyone! Anyone else noticing the trend these days in after market watch straps to include quick release spring bars?
Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t stand it. In fact, i won’t buy a strap that has these quick release spring bars sewn in. I refuse to believe that these QR spring bars are of the same quality as the OEM version. And all it takes is one to fail at the wrong time and your watch could be severely damaged or gone forever. Anyone else feel the same?? |

to be honest I'm the exact opposite. I don't buy any new straps unless they have quick release or the intended watch has drilled lugs. I'm done with the effort of changing straps with tools, damaging lugs, etc. I don't see much more risk in a quality quick release spring bar failing vs another one. Maybe one day I'll regret the decision, but I've only got good things to say so far.

Also, opposite. I think all straps should come with them. Wish more brands would go the route of quick release mechanisms. Love being able to swap in seconds on my Cartier. Meanwhile I’m sweating every time I want to swap my Rolex bracelet.

I think they are great. What an ease to install and remove. No monkeying around with potentially scratching lugs etc.

Interesting opposing perspectives everyone. Thanks for chiming in.
Those of you in the ‘pro QR’ camp do you feel they are comparable quality to regular OEM bars? The ones I’ve experienced always seemed less robust. Perhaps it’s all in my head. |

I've been using them for years, never had a failure. Quality varies though, as it does with normal springbars.

To answer your question: I pretty much wear 1 watch now (214270) and switch it up constantly with a different strap. Leather, nato, rubber, etc. I have way way way more straps than I have watches. Quick release makes it super easy. I would not buy leather straps without quick release. Yes, you can buy cheap ones just like cheap regular bars. Just depends where you get them. |

Changing bracelet & strap combinations is half the fun of this hobby. Quick release straps offer those who might be a little less adventurous the opportunity to experiment. I see the trend as a plus.
You always have the option to look elsewhere if they're not your thing. dP

Love mixing up straps. I’m all for it.
