That will mean more to him than ANY expensive reference he could have bought for himself.

Well done and Merry Christmas

Anyways, I am wearing his watch today, but he will be receiving for it for Christmas. Feels pretty cool to buy your parents a nice gift once in a while....
Congratulations, what a gesture. I’m sure it will bring a ton of joy and pride to your father (and you) when he opens it. Cool dial combo as well.

I did something similar for my father a couple of years back. After a lifetime of wearing G-Shocks, and sacrificing for the family as parents do, it was a special moment to be able to surprise him with his first and only Rolex. A few years prior he had passed down to me his father’s Patek (seems the watch bug skipped a generation!) which in itself was really special, and I can vividly remember how touched he was to receive a Rolex in return. Looking forward to hearing how it goes for you both tomorrow.

Very nice photography you have there as well, quite the diverse collection of planes, wildlife, settings, churches, etc. Congrats again to you and your dad, enjoy the big moment tomorrow!

Thanks for the kind words everyone, and Merry Christmas.

Before wiping off the fingerprints and getting the watch ready to wrap, I took it outside to see how the dial looks in the sun.

He currently wears a SS Sub, but has always liked the OP line due to their simplistic design and for whatever reason, he prefers watches with no date (however his Sub does have a date). While he could easily buy multiples of any Rolex in the catalog, he prefers watches that are not flashy. Same with cars, clothes, homes, etc.... (but that is another topic).

A perfect Christmas gift and lovely gesture. I'm sure he'll absolutely love it.
Thumbs up man.

Very cool! Surprised and not expected (in a positive situation) is always the best reaction! That is the most perfect Christmas photo. The smile on your Dad's face says it all. Congrats to him! He has a great son.

He was definitely surprised. We sized it up and everything last night. He really did not see this one coming. Caught him totally off guard. He knows I am into Rolex watches, but he is not as into them as I am. A watch was not on his "list".
