Used to have one, great watch and beauty. I sold it to make space for something else. At times I wish I could have kept it.

It's a real "pros and cons" watch for me.
I really like the fact it's totally different to everything else in the Rolex lineup, both in terms of looks and function, so in that regard it's a unique and cool looking piece. However, I've personally moved away from 44mm+ pieces these days (although if your daily is a DSSD, you'll be fine, OP), and no matter how hard I've tried I just can't warm to the HUGE "Yacht-Master 2" text on the bezel. And as cool as the movement is, the countdown timer is a function I know I'll never personally use. (But then, few people buy watches for their actual function these days anyway).

The forum is a bunch of enablers. The question is: how do you like it?

Cool watch and you do not see a lot of them out and about.

This has really grown on me. Especially the TT rose gold version. The blue is something special. For me it is a bit too big for my wrist.

It’s an amazing watch. I owned one and loved it. Its unconventional look is very polarizing, which can be appealing in its own right. Technically it’s a masterpiece. if you were into technical movements, go for it because this watch does not disappoint. The watch is actually very comfortable and sits flat on the wrist for its size. The countdown timer is very cool and can be left running if you want to synch the large second hand up with the main smaller second hand and let it run indefinitely.

It is one of the few Rolex watches I don’t understand. I find it very ugly, too much colours and messy dial

A local dealer owns a personal one and I thought it was awesome. If I had funds available and was offered one I’d have a hard time passing it up.
Would it end up being a keeper? Only one way to find out. |

Is it on your list of watches to get? If not, and it pulls funds away from a watch you truly want, then I would pass. If you have plenty of money, then buy it, if it scratches an itch. It's a bit busy to me, especially with YACHT-MASTER II on the bottom of the bezel, like it's trying too hard to be recognized as a Yacht-Master. I, too, have a SDDS and love it. I wish you well.

When I was first getting into Rolex, I decided I wanted this watch. Unique and technically outstanding with such a cool and specific complication… then I tried it on and realized it was way too big and too flashy even in steel for my lifestyle.
If I had unlimited money I would probably still buy one just to wear when I go sailing. |

Not my cup of tea.
Too big, even on my 7 1/2 inch wrist. And the dial is too busy. |
