Ressence Type 1s and Type 8

Does anyone have either of the two references and if so, what has been your experience with them? I love the look of Ressence watches and especially appreciate the engineering that went into their ROCS system, but the only thing that slightly bothers me is 1 ATM water-resistance, making the watch essentially splash resistant only. Keen to hear your thoughts.

My brother has the type 1 red and other than an issue with magnetization, he’s had no issues. Very cool watches. Prefer type 1 aesthetics to type 8.

Thanks for your input. Was the issue with magnetisation solved by Ressence?

I imagine the magnetism issue could be solved by a cheap watch de-magnetizer from Amazon. It’s happens to many watches at one point or another (except the Milgauss I suppose). Really like mine

One question actually; has 1 ATM waterproof rating been a hindrance in regular, daily use?

It’s the most legible watch I own. People tend to love them or hate them (the hate is usually based on the price point for a highly modified ETA movement) but I really became attached and waited until the right one came along at reduced price.

I was very impressed with everything except the prices.

I would have bought one but not for what they are asking.

Ressence Type 1 and Type 8 watches have generally received positive feedback from customers and watch enthusiasts. Here are some of the commonly mentioned feedback and reviews on each of these models:

Ressence Type 1s:

The unique and innovative design of the watch is appreciated by many customers, who find it both visually stunning and functional.
The oil-filled dial system of the watch is often mentioned as a standout feature, providing excellent legibility and reducing glare.
Customers have also praised the watch's comfortable fit and ease of use, with its quick-release strap mechanism and intuitive setting system.
Some customers have noted that the watch can be difficult to read in certain lighting conditions due to its design, but this is a minor issue for most.
Ressence Type 8:

Customers appreciate the unique and distinct design of the watch, which features a rotating dial and oil-filled case that offers excellent legibility and a mesmerizing display.
The watch is often described as lightweight and comfortable to wear, with a durable and high-quality build.
Some customers have noted that the watch's unique design can take some getting used to, and that the price point is relatively high compared to other watches in its class.
Overall, customers seem to appreciate the innovative and distinctive design of both the Ressence Type 1s and Type 8 watches, and find them to be high-quality timepieces that are both functional and visually striking.

Magnetic field of every day gadgets (e.g. smart phones, computers etc.) can sometimes interfere with internal components of watches (e.g. hairspring) by magnetising them and thus making the watch run incorrectly. Some manufacturers are better at tackling this problem (e.g. Rolex) than others, by using components that are highly resistant to magnetism (e.g. Rolex Parachrom hairspring).

Quick update; I ended up buying Ressence Type 8 and couldn’t be happier with the choice 😁
