Seeking GS beads of rice guidance
Yes, it’s another beads of rice thread! After much deliberation I’ve decided to pursue a GS beads of rice bracelet for my SBGW279 “Oruri.” I think the BOR would kill on this particular SBGW. Seeking guidance from those with experience - what’s the best way to go about sourcing one? I am willing to wait and in no rush. How difficult are they to size yourself and attach to the watch head? How difficult to remove if I wanted to throw a strap back on? Seeking info and guidance from the experts here. Many thanks! (picture for the heck of it)

It's worth asking your AD but you could try Seiya Japan. I don't know for sure but assuming the case size/dimensions for your 279 are the same as the 231.

For an SBGW283 (same case as yours), I sourced the BOR bracelet from the GS boutique in NY (where I got a couple watches - there was no local AD for me) along with a deployant clasp. Took about 4 months to deliver but smooth transaction. Also provided a screwdriver that made removing links easier. I used a bergeon tweezer-style tool to remove/add the bracelet and that makes it pretty easy. But if you don't have the right tool or patience, just ask the AD to do it.
Occasionally see them on EBay too. |
