SMP rubber deployant worth it?

I just got a blue seamaster on bracelet. I want to order the rubber option as well. Should I order the tang buckle rubber strap, or the deployant rubber?

my wrist is currently about 17cm, but if I cut a little weight probably down to 16cm. Which is more comfortable and better looking? Cost isn't so much an issue, I just want the most comfortable and upscale option.

Mine came on a tang and I “upgraded” to the same deployment type and really enjoy it. Is it significantly different, no not really unless you look at the inside of your wrist, which I rarely do. However the deployment clasp wears more flush to your wrist so it’s better with a sleeve and looks more refined but the tang looks nice also so….
It’s easier to take off and put back on then the tang type.
Rubber Straps are more comfortable than the bracelet option.
They probably have different size’s available but of course also have plenty of holes to get a good fit. On a large wrist 7.75” I’m at the second to last hole.

To each their own. I bought my SMP300 on the tang and considered upgrading...once I tried the deployant on at the AD, I chose against the upgrade because the rubber strap is too chunky/fat under the wrist IMO. The tang conforms better to my wrist.

I'd stick with the tang buckle. More comfortable on a smaller wrist

I've been perfectly happy with the tang option since it seems to fit my wrist fine. I'd use the money you save and add one of the Omega natos since they work so well on this watch.

I'm on the opposite. Had the Tang, replaced it with the deployment and am really happy with the deployment. Primarily for easy on/off.

The difference in thickness is really negligible. Yeah, a tad thicker between the wrist and band, but when you factor the keepers on the tang and the double strap on top for the tang (instead of underneath for the clasp), total thickness from wrist to top side of strap is really imperceptible.

I also like the far more minimalist look of the deployment clasp. I find the Tang to be too busy looking.

Really don' t understand why Omega charges so much for it though, that is definitely a CON...but ended up selling my TANG which made the hit less painful.

In the end, it's really a personal preference.

I did the same bought mine with tang and upgraded to deployment and I definitely like it way better in mi opinion

Fun bit of trivia:

The term deployant comes from the French verb: déployer meaning: to spread out, to unfold

We get the English word "deployment" from the French déployer / déployant. They both have the same meaning and are interchangeable. However, technically when referring to the fold over clasp of a watch “deployant” is more correct. Though I’ve heard others argue that the butterfly clasp is more accurately labeled a deployment.

Now on to solve other world problems!

Go with deployant. Much easier on and off AND is very comfortable. Just sold the tang rubber on eBay to help with cost.

Totally agree…I have 2 POs and the new green SMP…all with the deployment rubber strap. So much nicer and ~ in my opinion ~ more elegant and ‘professional’ looking.

Also, maybe most importantly, MUCH LESS stress on the lug spring bars when taking off your watch, since you’re not torquing and pulling hard on the strap to release the pin from the buckle.

I’m always afraid I’ll rip the strap out of the lugs by pulling too hard, with my conventional strap watches. I wear it my watches pretty tight, so I’m pulling hard for a good, snug fit.

Save yourself some serious wear and tear ~ go with the deployant.

Pin buckle is $50. Deployant is $250. Strap is another $250.

The deployant is very nice looking, but I’ve never tried it on, so cannot comment on comfort.

I will say this about the tang: Omega makes one of the best looking pin buckles in the entire industry for this watch. The form, facets and finishing are exceptional. I’d go with it for its sheer beauty, if nothing else.

It’s very smooth and silky. In my view, not much bulk compared to other deployants like TAG.
