Safe to say the "leaks" are fakes

Ready to definitively call bullshit on the "leaks" we've been seeing (photos from the catalogues). Whomever has been making them finally screwed up, as evidenced by the OF Platona that NotYourWatches just put up. It lists the reference as 116506. However, the theoretical reference would be 116516, if it follows the same conventions as the other OF Daytona models.

No matter what, it wouldn't have the same reference as the bracelet version as the two do not actually share the same case.

Obviously any credibility any of their other leaks had has now evaporated.

They posted a story on Instagram clarifying this, they claimed the reason why this new model has the same reference number as the Platona was because this new OF Platona supposedly has a quick release system for switching bracelets. We'll know for sure if it's BS or not in a couple of weeks from now.

I could look at mock ups all day, where's the harm? But claiming they are leaks overloads the BS detector and kills it.

I was previously in the "maybe, maybe not, but they're at least good fakes" camp. Mundane enough to be believable, and seemingly got all the details right.

The new MG sharing a bracelet with the steel YM got me a bit more suspicious.

But at this point, I'm no longer in the "could be" camp and believe them all to be trash.

IMO, that would have resulted in a new reference as well, since there would certainly be some case design differences. I don't know of any high-end quick release systems that still have standard spring bar holes in the lugs and any changes there would have resulted in a new reference.

New rule: if you tell us it's "safe to say" the leaks are fakes, and you end up wrong, you're not allowed to comment on leaks in 2024.
