Thank you Phillip. And many thanks for the excellent and rapid service.
I wound up soaking the original bracelet in mineral spirits for about an hour. I kept shaking the glass jar and the fluid turned almost black from the 35 years of dirt and gunk in there. Came out pretty clean after I used an old tooth brush and scrubbed around each link. Then I rinsed it in hot, soapy water and placed it inside a screen bag and ran it through the dishwasher hot water rinse cycle for 20 minutes. Came out squeeky clean. |

My wife wasn't home at the time, so I figured I'd get away with it. ;-)

I've been restoring vintage cars for the past 40 years or so and have run across the process in the past for small components that are already clean and not contaminated with grease. In fact, some guys have a separate dishwasher just for that purpose. It's almost like a giant ultrasonic cleaner.
Just remember to not eat the Tide-pods, kids. |

Love seeing the photos of it being fixed up and all. Great pair of 16750s. That’s the watch that got me into Rolex that I got from my father.

My son and I got to wear the family heirloom pair for my daughter's wedding last Sunday. An amazing day had by all. My Dad was there too, enjoying his granddaughter's wedding and got to see us both wearing the watches.

Like a early 90s Patek Phillipe advert, nice ✓
My sons are not interested in all this vintage Rolex/Tudor watch, 60/70s Vintage Cars, 70s two stroke superbike or vintage Fender/Gibson guitar malarkey....one iota ;-) !

He really likes the watch. The wedding photogrpaher (of all people) was the first to notice it on his wrist. I then showed him mine and gave him the story. He took some shots of the pair during some down time. My son is also interested in our '93 Viper but he has to learn how to drive a stick shift before he gets it. We've been trying to find a cheap "hoopty" manual-transmission car for him to ruin his first clutch on, but have not found anything around here yet.
