Welcome to the forum.

"How do I show proof of income if I get paid in cash"

Whoever gives you the cash is supposed to report this through a 1099, 1099-k or w2 depending on what type of employer it is. ask for pay stubs and accompany that with your bank deposits if you put the cash into the bank.

If you are a contractor getting paid cash through customers, have them sign receipts stating the work/services rendered, date, and cost then file taxes quarterly/annually depending on business size. Then use your taxes as your proof of income as that will show what you paid to the government based off of what you allegedly made.

have your accounts 'seasoned'... that way it doesn't matter how you get paid, unless it's the IRS asking for proof.

You paid cash for something, or get paid cash income?

Welcome to the forum.

Your SOL…unfortunately when we get paid in cash you cannot show it. So your true income declared is substantially lower. Just one of the fallouts of circumventing the system.

I was an IC and got paid in cash for years. I had a separate work bank account and the deposits were my income as far as IRS and loans were concerned.

Charity, bribes and washing money aren’t the same. It’s business.

Show them your last 5 years of 8-digit AGI lines on your 1040’s.

Even drug dealers can show proof of income so not a new thing.

If it’s for a car loan some banks will take 3 months of consecutive bank statements showing the cash deposits and they average the amount.

If you paid in cash, you would need to provide a receipt or some other form of documentation to show that the payment was made.
