If you love something set it free...

if it returns, it's yours....if it doesn't, it never was.

Well the Liincoln MKX returned today. After being assaulted in a parking lot last May 30 by a moron, it's been gone with a crumpled rear quarter panel for almost a year.

I've been told it's Covid's fault that the part was back ordered but personally I blame Canada. These cars are made there.

After renting a car for 4 months then realizing how stupid that was we went out and bought a new car. So now that Abraham has returned home from a year long odyssey it has to be sold.

I'm guessing CarMax or some other unpleasant experience is in our future.

When you make a car would to be toooooo much to ask to make a few replacement parts as well.

It's not as if Canadians don't crash into a lot of snowbanks every day.

You'd think by now the Covid excuse would have been retired, but I guess not.

My insurance agent said that he knew of a Range Rover I thought it was, was waiting for a special part or bolt made in Ukraine.

That was longer than my situation…..obviously.

Disappointing! I was anticipating a photo of one of those wonderful Lincoln Coupe "land yachts" about a block long with doors as long as a Japanese compact.
I hate modern cars and so both of mine are >17 yrs old (and I don't want to part with either of them) but getting spare parts will be the only reason that I will have to buy something more recent. 3 months is about the average for some OE parts (non-genuine are easier to obtain) which have to come from Japan.
I recently ordered a new Brake Reservoir Cap which would have been around A$60. from the Dealer but which I can obtain via the net from an independent supplier for about $30. 4 months is the estimated shipping time from (can you believe it) Saudia Arabia. I feel priviliged to be able to get one at all.

I guess the InsCo never heard of pull-a-part, or the repo lot?

Since the car sat idle nearly a year (unserviced I’d guess) - InsCo needs to pop for re-commissioning service.

Yeah, I told a couple of body shops that I'd sign off on a used part (inside wheel well) but they said they won't use a part that isn't new.

The part only cost around $100.

That’s got to be frustrating.

Good luck with the sale - the way it is now, your car may have gained value while it was awaiting the repairs.

Thanks. We'll see how it goes. I've always done trade-ins so this should be.....interesting.
