Every 2 or 3 hand ss model should be a manual wind. No automatic should be considered.
Agree or not? What say you!!!!!!??????!!!!!!!! ![]() |

I have shared feeling about it. I think it's more "like it should be", however, given the price tags of Panerai and the usability, automatic movements have to be in the game. Or maybe manual movements with more in line prices with that ?

Agree with my Radiomir 210 & Luminor 112, but my Submersible would feel strange as a manual

Yes of course for some autos are quite fine but for the historical and base models I much prefer manuals. My only current auto is the 388 and previously a Daylight 250 (I think).

That was my approach as well.
My daily GMT had gone in for a service and will be out of action for a few months. I have been wearing my PAM daily ever since. |

Manual wind and Panerai go hand in hand IMO.

Radiomir and manual wind goes hand in hand IMO. In fact, all classic Panerai just feel right if manual wind.

I own a manual 111 I bought 15 years ago (manual wind obviously) and have a new 44mm submersible that is automatic. Honestly, I prefer the convenience of automatic watches because I forget to wind them and love my submersible. The exception is an 8-day in which I just have to remember to wind it every Sunday night. I plan to buy a 45mm Radiomir 8-day soon.
Side note: Everyone complains about the non-hacking movements but my old 111 doesn't hack (and that didn't seem to be a big issue 15 years ago when everyone loved Panerai) and with my new submersible (grey e-steel one) I just have to move the minute hand back 5 minutes to stop the seconds hand so I can easily hack it to the precise time. |

I too own a 111 and I prefer the ceremony of manually winding. As for hacking, its less important on a watch without a minute track. For these reasons and others my 111 is perhaps my most relaxing watch to wear, I have plenty of other watches whose accuracy I can stress over.

For me a Panerai wants to be manual wind. Currently enjoying a 233, 390 and a 372. All Manual with the old school vibe.

I am on my 4th day with my new 915. It is my only manual wind watch, and I am really enjoying it so far. I gave it a good wind on the first day, and I was going to let it run until it stopped to measure how much to wind it in the future. So far it is running about 10 seconds fast per day, and it hasn't left my wrist for more than a few minutes at a time.
I think manual wind fits Panerai, it's part of the "old school" that drew me to the watch and the company. |

It’s fun to handle your watch every 3-8 days. It’s more of a relationship in my opinion.

I am loving my 914, 2 hand, manual wind and not worried if it’s off by x number of seconds. The simplicity of the watch is what I find attractive and manually winding it once a week takes me back to a simpler time.
