Rolex Submariner Date Hulk 116610LV

Hi All,

I am new to this forum, but I have been a watch collector and enthusiast for a long time. Recently, my cousin purchased a Rolex Submariner Date Hulk 116610LV from a pawnbroker in London at an excellent price, which surprised me however it came with a box but no card.

Upon examining the watch, I was not entirely sure if it was authentic, so we took it to a reputable watchmaker in our town who specializes in Rolex watches and offers authentication services.

The watchmaker found that the movement was genuine cal. 3135, but could not find any record of the serial number. Additionally, the watchmaker believed that the dial and bezel were aftermarket and not original, suggesting that it may be a Franken watch.

I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and if the watch would have any resale value if my cousin decided to sell it.

It's been 6 weeks or so since he purchased this watch and has proof of purchase.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Doesn't sound like the "authentication service" was much good, or perhaps not very knowledgeable.

If the watch is not authentic then there wouldn't be much value in selling it' it wouldn't be worth more than a novelty piece.

It may original Sub date, but he change the green ceramic dial and bezel.
