2023 PGA Championship

In 2019 I was asked by a close friend if I’d volunteer to work the “Big Board” on #18 for the Senior PGA Championship at Oak Hill. Of course I jumped at the opportunity and had hopes that this would lead to a return performance when the PGA Championship would be at Oak Hill CC in 2023. Well, technology put an end to the old, manually updated Big Board and I was replaced with a phenomenal electronic scoreboard and screen for this week’s PGA event. Nevertheless, my partner Nancy and I again volunteered to work and we were assigned as course marshals for hole #18. It was a great experience to be so up close to the players and work inside the ropes for 4 days (2 practice days and 2 tournament rounds).
Here are just a few pics, including one from 2019 when we were up high on the Big Board.

Our replacement was an incredible electronic screen with live updates and a beautiful picture for the spectators:

Well done Brooks! Guy was in contention at the Masters also. Looks like LIV is perfect for him. Only has to focus on the Majors.

It’s good to see him healthy again. He’s wired for majors. The smile coming down the stretch said it all.

Sounds like an amazing experience. Golf tournaments are my favorite sporting event to go to. So many different ways to enjoy a day, whether it be following one group, one hole, finding a shady spot under a tree or just taking a stroll through the tournament grounds. It’s truly relaxing.
