A very special incoming + calling those who has engraved their watches.

It’s been a while since I’ve contributed to the forums as I’ve been busy with life.. I’m lucky to have accomplished some big life goals of mine recently..

My SA who I have a great relationship with checks in every so often on how I’ve doing.. We chat a bit via text & he knows my list but I’m never pushy or am “bugging” when it comes to getting a watch. Whenever my time comes, it comes.

Today was the day. #1 on my list for a very long time. Oysterflex has always been my jam. I love the casualness but the YG makes it versatile for it to also be dressy.

I am blessed. I am thankful. I wish you all reading that you eventually get want you want but while you wait, I wish you all happiness & good health!

Anyways, my wedding is coming up, & I’d like to engrave the back of this watch with my wedding date. For those who have done engravings before, could you please share pictures & your thoughts about it. Did it come out how you were expecting it to? Love it? Regret it?

Thanks for reading!

Congrats! That’s a terrific watch. The new one that supposedly matches this one is missing the black hour marker surrounds and much more. Absolute keeper!

Wife and I had my Explorer her OP 34 engraved with our wedding date too. We had it done at our nearby Rolex AD/boutique.

My Sub is engraved and I absolutely love it unfortunately I can’t get photos worthy of posting because I’m an idiot.

I'm not against engraving, but not a wedding date.

Don't ask me why.

I think engraving a case back is awesome. The only thing you need to remember is, when it gets serviced, the odds of it no longer being "square" is very high. The case back will likely not tighten to the same exact position, and your engraving will be a bit crooked. It doesn't bother me, but if you have OCD, be prepared.

I would not engrave unless I was giving one of my watches to my sons. My wife engraved my 116523 she gave me on our wedding day but that is not a reference I would get rid of. All of my other watches are without engraving. You Never know when you might tire of a watch and want a new one. Then it would be harder to sell if it is engraved.

Didn’t get it engraved. Will do it later as I’m going on a trip and wanted to wear it out.

Got myself and my wife a couple Tudors for our 10yr anniversary. Both were engraved with hands showing 8:18 (anniversary date is Aug 18th) with a second hand at 12 and one at 22 indicating 10yrs. Star at 12 o’clock because we met at a place called Tin Star Ranch.

I look at the engravings pretty much every day and love them as much as the first day I saw them at the jeweler.

First off congrats on the new piece!!

Don’t have a good pic of it but I got my first “nice” watch (a Tag Heuer Formula One) from my wife as a gift on our first anniversary. She had our wedding date engraved on the clasp, so after 12 years of use and abuse it’s a little harder to read but I love it just as much as the day I got it. Had it been engraved on the caseback I think that would have held up better but the watch has a special checkered flag design there so on the clasp it went!
