So you introduce a whale to AP and in return they offer him the exact watch that you actually have on your wish list as well?! That seems a little off to me, but could also mean that the next one they receive has your name on it?

Maybe they also just wanted to lock in a potential future key customer.

Anyway, great for him and I hope that there's a QP coming for you too as soon as possible!

We can try to rationalize it or internalize it all we want but the ADs/boutiques rule with impunity like warlords and they do whatever they want

I think also SAs are still people and they’re all different in different ways. Maybe your friend doesn’t act like he wants a watch. Could you be potentially too nice?

No no..I’m talking about two different friends.

The one who got the QP walked in on his own in Europe.

I introduced the other chap in HK. He got the ceramic.

I’m sure it’ll come soon! When choosing which QP last year, my SA arranged both ST and OR versions for me to try on and help with my decision, and I was lucky they got me the allocation right before that massive price hike.

If you’re in HK and want to get a drink and talk AP, feel free to hit me up!

Well another post a member mentions that her got a blue 15510ST as a first and a while ago another mentioned getting a 16202 as a first and now this. Meanwhile I am 5 watches in and still no blue, green or jumbo. "It's tough but we will try.." is all I get.

You've purchased 5 watches from a boutique and they won't even allocate you a 'normal' blue or green RO? That's highly, highly unusual man, just saying.

I just hope you're not getting used
Sounds strange how some people can get certain watches as first pieces and others are 5 deep and cant get something

I believe our friend here has a RO and ROC, even if not blue/green. More than nothing.

The Boston boutique, if that's what we're talking about, should get about 250 watches/year, so 0.5% of APs annual production. I'd guess that 20-25 or so are blue/green 41mm ROs or Jumbo's. OTOH, they probably have more than a hundred customers that have bought 1-2 watches every year since they opened. So some in the 5-watch total club will need to be patient, but should get the desired piece eventually.

Interesting. Do you think a boutique like Dallas would get around the same # of watches?

Well, for sure the average per boutique is around a 500 watches/year, given 100 sales outlets and 50k watches produced. The biggest boutiques sell more than a 1000 watches per year (from some FHB interview) and the small ones like Boston still get 250. So, not knowing anything about Dallas, I'd guess 400-500.

Do you have a link to the interview where FHB talks about this, any idea on how many watches a year london boutiques do?

Riddle me this - allocation?

I feel like you should have gotten that by now.
Makes me wonder if they know you’re going to buy that so they’re trying to sell you as many other watches as possible that you probably wouldn’t buy if you got the rg perp.
Conspiracy theory guy over here.

Also. I know a guy who got the new flying tourbillon offshore (phenomenal by the way) as his second after a rg chrono. (Maybe he bought one other offshore I can’t remember)

Things seems different now
And seems to be opportunity on big pieces
We will know things are different if I get offered something wild as a first piece

I have only good things to say about the Boston boutique staff and they have always been great to deal with. I was literally the first customer who set foot in the store when I snagged that ROC so I have known them for a long time. I certainly understand how large the demand is and have never really been too annoying about my demands. Having said that seeing others with much less history at other boutiques as well as a friend at the same boutique I deal with get these more in demand colors certainly leaves a bit of a bitter taste. My long term plan was to certainly grow a collection with the brand and work my way up to a perpetual, tourbillon and openworked but seeing how tough it is to even get a lowly blue Royal Oak and the ever decreasing prices on the grey market really makes me question the need for this relationship sometimes.

I don't think that's that out of the ordinary. My jumbo came as my 6th piece. Fingers crossed you're at the precipice of something good.
