Daytona serviced in Lititz, PA?

Just dropped off my grail watch, the 116506, at the RSC in Dallas. I have only owned it for about 6 months and it is still under warranty of course. It has been steadily gaining time, up to ~7-8 sec/day measured in all positions, with an amplitude of 260-285 degrees fully wound and a beat error of 0.8-1.0 ms. They estimated a service time of three weeks, no polish required. Hope they will treat it well. The caseback will likely have some marks from the tool used to open it but there is nothing I can do about that.

I have heard that all Daytona movements are now being serviced in Lititz, PA. Is that true or just a myth?

Thanks for your input.

What a beauty. Hope you receive it back in good order. My caseback of my WG GMT was scratched a bit too after opening up the case for warranty repairs. It is what it is.

RSC told you the case back may shows scratches from them opening it? Or are you just saying you expect that?

Wow what a beauty! Let us know how it goes. I would hope the case back avoids scratching.

Lititz has been servicing overflow and special Rolex watches for decades.

At Lititz, they don't have "techs", they are all watchmakers. You will be in very good hands if it is sent there.

I had a 116520 serviced under warranty in Dallas back in 2015 as well. As I treat my watches well, I was told back then too that no polishing would be required. When I got it back 2 weeks later, I noticed small dents in the lugs from bracelet removal and a scratched up caseback. Now the damages to the lugs were completely unacceptable to me and were fixed thereafter. The caseback was also polished but I would not have let them polish the watch just because of that. I am just assuming it would happen again which is why I was so hesitant to take my 116506 there in the first place. Now I have and I'm worried lol.

I had a warranty issue on my 116506 as well. Watch came back from Letitz 12 days after dropping it off at Beverly Hills RSC, fixed and running virtually spot on.

This was in 2017.

Another marked up case back after nyc service checking in :( 116500 Grindy winding. I’ve actually had 2 newish Daytonas have that. No report back of the issue but they wound smoother after

The "Zenith" movement in the Daytona is a Rolex 4030 caliber. Any RSC will accept Daytonas for service.

Heard of others happy with the service at Lititz. Just checked and I'm 1-1/2 hour drive away. Good to know.

Lititz is a cool little town. They do a chocolate walk every October. I highly recommend checking it out some time.

3 minutes per month gain?? How about just resetting it on the first of every montht!!!! This way you won't have to worry about your watch coming back from RSC in worse condition than when you left it for them.......

Looks like a nice little town. Might take a ride up there just for kicks. 76W to 222S.

You can’t drop a watch off there. Place is like Fort Knox for some reason. Only AD’s or other RSC’s can send watches there. They service all Daytona’s and are now starting to service all Day Dates as well.

Good to know, thanks. I was just checking the towns information and it looks like a nice and relaxing place.

Because I want it to work as advertised when it's a fairly new timepiece, which virtually all my watches do. And a 1 ms beat error (my observation was confirmed by them) may indicate some additional movement problem that should at least be looked at. Would you want to drive a luxury car that does not operate as advertised or would you take it in for service to prevent potential further damage?

Something I do not understand, however, is why these service centers cannot remove and refit bracelet and caseback without leaving marks and scratches on the watch. I would imagine that they are trained right and have the appropriate tools to prevent damages. Anyway, let's hope and pray they pay a little more attention to my little Platona and make it run well again. *positive thoughts*

Interesting. Maybe the day won’t change over at 12:12 after they get their hands on it. Thanks for the info
