Advice on 1655

Years past but I am still looking for a nice 1655 to add.

I'm not particularly fond of the straight hand, and like the freccione to have turned yellow.

I may have found the one from a reputable seller 5.8M 1978, Mk4 dial and Mk3 bezel in my eyes. No B&P.

Case have been polished, but does it look too super sharp to not have been recut ? (seller says no laser welding by him) but do you find it keeps it's thickness and shape as a 1655 should ? Maybe the upper Left lug is thinner?

Second hand as a hairline crack in the tritium, that I may ask him to stabilize prior to shipping, so it does not deteriorate further.
Dial seems clean, with an even patina and almost no tritium loss.

Is there anything I miss on this one that you guys see? vintage is a jungle...

Any help greatly appreciated !

Ludo

Can't be totally sure, but I'm inclined to say that the case (and maybe bezel) has been refinished. The lugs and crown guards are inconsistent IMO. Not necessarily a dealbreaker if the watch appeals to you, and it does look nice.

The watch has had some professional detailing which is obvious in the photos. Lugs appear to be a little thin which was probably due to some case restoration.

Looks ok from those slightly Hubble Telescope photos - all about price... what are they asking pls ?... I believe this is the first buyers market since 2016, so deals to be had even at a specialist dealers...I assessed a Monte Carlo for a pal last week, told him this fact and the dealer accepted £2k less than asking price @ £15,750...that was unheard of 2017-22 imho.

Looks nice overall. Also appears to have the original brushed date wheel, which is always a bonus in my book.

Depends how picky you are about the case, but I've seen worse. I would also encourage you to get a UV photo of the dial/hands, and also of the movement.

What is the asking price?

Sounds high, especially in the current market, which is soft for sellers, in the U.S. anyway.

Yes, I'd like it better a bit cheaper. I'll see where this end. Still negociating.

About the DW, sometimes I overlook this things but once you see it, you can't unsee how nice a brushed DW "completes" the package !

Agreed with the discussion, nothing here is something you're going to stare at every day and regret buying the piece... Get it for a a price you can live with and enjoy!

€27k is v high in my opinion for a loose goose, and closer to full punched paper and accessories price in UK or a mint original MK1 (straight hand) watch only.

Bought few similar to the listing in UK for c £18-19k last year or so, just as a rough comparison.

What do you think would be a faire price for this one ?

I probably don’t have the good connexions with the good sellers, but all the b&p that I saw in europe have been offered to me for 46k (SH) and 35k (frog). One MkV no b&p in overall good condition « unpolished » but with a crack in the tritium freccione hand was offered to me at 25.5 firm and I don’t have any creds on the seller. So I gave up. Even the asking prices on forums via watchcharts seems high this days (almost 30k for the latest ads, but maybe wishful thinking)

Are US/uk references prices with all the taxes too as I don’t see why there should be any sensible differences in prices between our locations on those models ?

Dollar lost 11% vs Eu during the past 12 months it may have in impact on the EU prices once converted. But in gbp/eur variation is less than 1%.
