Certified Pre-Owned in Vail

Was shopping in Vail and had to pop into Betteridge. Same old, “limited stock for resale,” story for new Rolex but come to find they’re one of the few US AD’s offering Certified Pre-owned. They had only started offering these about a week ago.

Happy to say I picked up a 16570 ExpII Polar for ~$10.5K. They also had GMT’s 116710BLNR (~$20K), 116710LN, an older aluminum bezel Pepsi (~$15K), and a few different DJ’s and Subs. All pretty close to secondary market prices. Maybe a little higher than online resellers here, but fully certified and with a two-year warranty.

Also worth noting that my SA, Casey, was one of the friendliest and most helpful SA’s at any of the AD’s I’ve visited in the past.

If you’re in the area, it’s worth checking out!

$20k for a used BLNR -- wow. There are some mint condition ones on Moda listed for between $14k-15k.

something tells me deals can probably be had on CPO. Give it time. If it just sits there gathering dust specks, they will be motivated to move the CPO pieces (marked to actual mkt.)

Beautiful reference! 'Swiss only' luminova dial, probably 1998 or 99; do CPO come with papers?

Agreed. It has an “A” serial number, so I’m thinking '99. It’s very clean, though. No historical papers, other than a warranty card with reference, serial, and purchase date. Also, it’s not a normal retail box. It’s much more modest. I’ll attach some pics when I get a chance.

again, congrats! imo- one of the most beautiful Rolex references; i'm planning to do a mod on mine- trying to locate a roulette date wheel and having it installed.

the red date and red gmt hand will make the dial pop just a bit.

I love the few references with the roulette wheel! Not sure how I feel about modding in general, but if you’re in to it, I can totally see how the roulette look would complement the red GMT hand on this watch. 😁

You're most kind! Thanks so much for posting these detailed pix.
I greatly appreciate it!!

It's cool they re-issue a card-- that's a great value imo (as opposed to buying a watch sans box / papers from the 2ndary mkt.)

Agreed. I think that’s really THE benefit to going Certified Pre-owned. Well, that and knowing for sure that you’re getting a watch that just came through the service center and isn’t a Franken-watch in any way. That’s worth a bit of a premium to me.

Interestingly, they had three versions of the 16570. An early, tritium dial with the older clasp (the tritium was shot and it had service hands with luminova), this version 2 with the luminova and the locking clasp, and what was probably a version 3 (“Swiss Made”/still with drilled lugs) but with a little bit of wear on the bezel (hardly noticeable). However, since they were all the same reference, they were all priced the same.

I think they’re still dialing in how they’ll price these certified pre-owned models.
