You’ve been on a roll lately! We’ve been in MT for a month but are getting ready to head to Walla Walla and then on to Willamette - about 4 days each. We plan to hit Pepperbridge and L’ecole No 41 in Walla Walla, but need to find a few more to visit there - hopefully dog friendly wineries. Same for Willamette - only planned winery there so far is Ayres Family Winery.

Wine tasting in Walla Walla, Washington today. We hit Long Shadows, L’ecole No 41 and Woodward Canyon.

Tomorrow is Pepper Bridge, Figgins and Saviah. Friday there’s a downtown wine walk with about 35 wineries, so who knows where we’ll end up. The ones with an “*” are ones recommended to us today.

The starred winery’s are all great. I also really enjoy spring valley, very cool family story. Hopefully Long Shadows lived up to the hype… pirouette is one on my favorite wines to come out of Walla Walla.

Last day of wine tasting in Walla Walla, WA today. Ended up going to Long Shadows, L’Ecole No41, Woodward Canyon, Pepper Bridge, Figgins, Bledsoe Family, and Seven Hills.

We did but a bottle of Pirouette at Long Shadows and joined the wine club at Woodward Canyon. All the places we visited had great wine. If you like rosé, try the Grenache rosé from L’ecole. It’s great.

Heading over to Dundee, OR tomorrow for another 4 days of wine tasting, and then over to Florence, OR for some beach time.

Thanks! It’s grown a ton since we were last here 17 years ago. Leonnetti, Woodward Canyon, and L’Ecole No 41 were the first 3 wineries in the very early 80’s. There are about 120 wineries here now. Even when we’re we’re here in 2006, I’d compare Pepper Bridge and L’Ecole No 41 red wines to the high end CA wines. It’s a great region. Horse Heaven Hills up near the Tri-Cities it’s an excellent AVA too. The Columbia and Yakima valleys aren’t as good.

If you are still in the Willamette, try to get an appointment to Beaux Freres winery. We think it is up there for Pinot noir.
