They sent a PDF with several suggested routes. I wish we had more time to be honest, so we are a little limited on which ones we can do. Swiss one looks cool and looks as if we could do some factory tours! But recommended time window ends in September, so not sure.

Do it

Do it

Don't think, do :)

Driving through the Swiss Alps is incredibly epic! Love that the locals can row through the gears. If you have the opportunity, do it!

Looks like fantastic suggestions, but keep in mind, no matter how fast your car is, locals will tailgate and pass you.

See the bright side: At the moment holiday traffic is penetrating heavily (RVs! ) all those beautiful roads, end of October, you will find many more empty roads.

And speeding in Switzerland is very expensive - in Italy watch for the red boxes on the sides of the roads. As an example Stelvio has plenty of them.

Could go either way but with only 7 days on the ground you should be able to get a good forecast and be flexible.

Sweeeeeeeeeeet! Have years of wrenching on one, street course tracking data, etc. Still have some copper crush washers for oil changes and some specialty bits somewhere around here.

If that is a QV, i have many files from the factory in pdf such as the service manual, homologation papers, engine blueprints, etc etc and yes etc. Made a CD years ago for the New England guys, hopefully you have a copy.

Did you change the fuse box yet to the Birdman version (Jon in New England, and yes he 'borrowed' that from my car mods :) ). Alas, TRF only allows tiny files, the original blueprint file is 6700 x 6800.

Thanks. I agree. 964 and 993 are the last hand made Porsches. Pinnacle of the brand to me.

The new ones are super fast and much better cars and I have a huge respect for them. Driven them all and performance wise they blow me away.

But these are small, mechanical and the best looking, imho.

You just became my new best friend on TRF!!!

Yes, mine is a QV. 1985, chassis 58027, Assembly# 540. Sold new out of Hollywood Sports Cars.

I fell in love with 308s back in the late 70s. I saw one in my hometown when I was about 8-10 years old and I thought it was the most beautiful car I had ever seen. I bought a poster that hung on my wall for years - I still have it. I had the hot wheels/matchbox cars. I still think the 308 is an astonishingly beautiful car. I never bore of looking at it.

I have reason to believe my car was used as the "B" role for the Sammy Hagar "I can't drive 55" video. I can't verify this of course, but Sammy drives his own BB in the video, but they have additional footage that is CLEARLY from a 308.

During my ownership it's been in another 6-8 movies/tv shows. I know it was on multiple shows before I had it. I even had a 1/4 page article written about the car and I in Motor Trend Classic magazine probably 10-12 years ago.

The car is far from perfect, but I drive it as much as I can - almost 90k miles. - seems low for a 38 year old car. I haven't been able to drive it for a while and nobody around here knows how to work on it - one of the downfalls of my current geographic location.

I brought my son and my youngest daughter home from the hospital in my Ferrari. I figure that some 60 years from now they can tell their grandkids that their first car ride - ever - was in a Ferrari.

I could go on and on about the car and all the fantastic adventures I have had with it. It has truly opened doors I never imagined even existed and I have loved every moment of it.

That's awesome. They probably used it on their friends in school too.

Here is my ‘85 Targa at the Luftgakult event here in the Bay Area. Sure there are much faster cars but there is just something about how raw and analog it is. Driving with the top off is one of life’s greatest joys.
