Hello guys!
New to the Forum. My first post. I sold my steel Daytona a few months ago and after a few weeks I felt lost not having a steel sports Rolex to wear. I have just bought a 1655 Explorer II orange hand and I actually prefer it to the steel Daytona. Am I mad? Would be interested to hear your thoughts. Spark. |

Hello, Mark. Welcome to TRF. Glad you joined our merry madhouse.
You did the right thing trading to the EXP II. Much better all around watch than the Daytona IMO. Wear it well and enjoy it. Oh, and keep on posting. And pics, please. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() Was this a modern Daytona? If so that's a no brainer! ![]() Depending on condition, straight second hand or not, bracelet your way ahead of the game in terms of desirability to most collectors. From a finicial standpoint I think your ahead of the game to way ahead. They don't make 1655s anymore, but you can get a Daytona. Big congrats!!! ![]() ![]() Post a pic of that trophy!!! |

Well Spark now you got a proper Rolex in the 1655 Explorer II orange hand Myself not a modern day Daytona lover at all,and cannot see why all the hype and grossly overpriced grey market prices. These modern day Rolex are only pretenders, you cannot beat the real Rolex and thats the vintage. And in reality there are millions of modern day,Rolex watches in this world, but watches like the 1655 quite small amounts.

Thanks!!
Hi All,
Thanks for the warm welcome and thanks for the pos feedback. It was a modern 2003 Daytona and I made a small profit on it too. Will post pics as soon as it comes back from Rolex UK, I bought it from a very good dealer, but just wanted to be sure. It is a late model 80-81 with heavy oyster bracelet, which I wanted as the folded link bracelet is a little light. The only thing not original is the seconds hand as it was changed by Rolex at service for a steel or white gold one sometime in the past and they don't have a white one in stock anymore. Cheers, Spark. |
