Rolex submariner vintage

Hello, my grandfather gave me this rolex. If you know this watch, could you give me information about it?

Can't tell much from the tiny photograph.
There should be some numbers on the sides that will help, as well as inside the case back.

Looks like a gilt 5513 but the picture is way too small to say anything for certain

It’s a mid 60’s gilt 5513 but you need to post far better pictures.

You're very lucky to get that from your grandfather. As noted above, put in a bit more effort to post better photos from various angles, and read the engravings between the lugs.

Crop out the unnecessary parts of the photo and adjust the size of the photo and you will be able to upload. Also, why don't you tell us what you want to know specifically. Apparently you already know it is a 5513. @antrolexsub and @juhuatai have already told you pretty much everything that can be determined from the photo you posted.

Looks like a 1964 gilt dial sub with some missing lume in the min hand and missing bezel assembly. Been polished but thick and retains what looks like the original 700 crown. More pics etc would be helpful though

Yes a c 64 looks like - what a lovely gift / pre - inheritance.

Post up some better pics please.

It can be easily sorted at an independent Rolex watchmaker.

Do not send to an ROLEX SERVICE CENTRE they will ruin it (by fitting sparkly new service items like hands, crown, plexi etc) and your purse (by quoting for all insundry of items).

Old bezel assemblies are reasonably plentiful, but quite pricey if you want the period black aluminium push in insert (thousand easily....).

You could always source a worn bezel (in keeping with the rest of the watch), for a few hundred and fit a cheaper later black insert first of course for a couple of hundred upwards.

The lume has fallen out of the gilt (gold) handset. I'll be at odds with some in saying this, but I would get them filled and colour matched perhaps, rather than seeking out (a slightly difficult to source) replacement gilt used set at 1000 or so.

You'll have quite the watch then....

Good luck.

Ps - I bought exactly the same 5513 watch (scruffy but honest, 1964/orig crown/hands/no bezel assembly in same condition) in Salerno Italy in 2018 (€6800) and it spruced up really lovely.

Maybe your grandfather has the bezel and bracelet stored somewhere. You should ask.

Amazing piece! Especially the superdome makes it sexy.
Nice fat case as well. Definitely worth to rebreath.

Are there any photos that actually show the condition of the dial?
