Inner Clasp on Rolex Deep SeaDweller (help please)
If anyone has a dssd (preferably purchased from 2015-2017) would they mind confirming whether or not the inner clasp where there is the “Rolex” name (placed with the curvy lines and underneath the crown) is the textured or the smooth version.
Posting a picture would be cool too. It seems like around late 2015 all the sports models went away from that textured inner clasp and to the smooth version except for the clasps on the 116600. I have my theory as to why but my thesis would be undermined if the dssd also continued (or continues) to use the textured inner clasp. Thanks |

Great info. Thanks. That those 2017 and 2018 dssd inner clasps are smooth is super telling and tends to support my thesis. For those who have 116600, they know that there was never a switch to smooth inner clasps even when other sports models transitioned in late 2015/early 2016. Even the last last of the 116600 had textured clasps.
My blnr is textured too but it was purchased in mid-2015 - so before the switch. I may be stating the complete obvious, but it seems that Rolex never sold enough of the 116600 to sell out of the existing textured clasps or they knew in late 2015 or early 2016 that they would discontinue it presently and therefore never manufactured that smooth inner clasp piece for the 116600 bracelet. Additional responses are appreciated and thanks in advance. |

The question now is which version of clasp one would get as a service replacement if a 116600 clasp were damaged beyond repair. If they replace the whole bracelet then I would guess textured. If they replace only the clasp then I would guess smooth. |

I think there's some confusion as to the reference in question.
Is the question related to the 116660 DSSD? Or the 116600 Sea-dweller? I can only add that my pristine (bought new) March 2015 D-blue (116660) is polished smooth with the curvy Rolex logo on the inside. My 2011 (black) DSSD (116660) has the bead blasted texture on the inside of the clasp. Sorry I can't post a pic. If i recall correctly. This same question has been asked on the forum before A service replacement would in all likelihood be the later polished version. |

My DSSD purchased in 2011 is textured.
My BLNR purchased in 2015 is also textured.

I just sent a 2014 116600 SD4K to the Dallas RSC for service without its original bracelet. The watch has been on a NATO and the bracelet was unfortunately lost/stolen during a recent move. Planning on buying a new one during the service and l’ll let you all know if the clasp is bead blasted or polished. I’d be surprised if in late 2023 they still have stock of the bead blasted clasps but will be pleasantly surprised if they do.
