How rare is a 1989 Polar 16570?
Lurker here, as the title states, is there a place for me to find the amount of 89 polar units made? I've been on google but can't seem to find a place that list the number of 16570 units made. I did see a list for the number of watches rolex produced that year, but since it's the first year of production, I'm assuming it's more rare? any info would be much appreciated.

Nobody knows but Rolex and they never disclose anything regarding production numbers.
Hypothetically if they make a million watches and 10% are explorers black/white than we talking 50.000 pcs white ones. Define rare but a Polar Explorer will never be rare imho

Just be patient and keep an eye out for one. The year holds no significance or difference aesthetically, just first year of production…

No one knows. Rolex might have made more units that first year, or less. No one really cares that much for it to affect value. Just make sure the hands, dial and date wheel (open 6 and 9) are original and it's in good shape.

Rarity is not always a measure of desirability, if I was in the market for a white dialed 16570 I'd be looking for an early tritium dial with a nice "Chi Chi di Mais" patina, 1989 holds no special significance for this reference as far as I know, aside from being the year it was introduced.

Production numbers are not published anywhere that I'm aware of. And as suggested above, they also don't really matter in any practical way.
