Xhevdet Rexhepi - an artist

Xhevdet’s watch is a stunning representation of the man behind it. He stands out not just as an amazing watchmaker, finisher, but also as a fabulous designer. Everything about this watch is… just him.

Anyone been keeping up with him?

This short film is terrific.

I was massively disappointed when this watch was revealed and still don’t get the love for it.

Other than the RRCC, his other watches really don’t sing to me

I don’t see any unifying design language unlike what FPJ does, for example

Never knew there was a younger Rexhepi. But I mean, they’re brothers - it’s basically the same brand

Thanks for sharing the IG (from some angles he looks exactly like his brother).

In my view, there are a lot of positives of the Minute Inerte - 38 by 8.5mm case, unique complication, beautiful hand-finishing, platinum heft, limited to 50 and the sexy lugs.

Are the 50 pcs fully allocated? I did not proceed with this one, a decision I'm sure I would regret when I see the first completed piece out there.

I'm gonna be a hater but the hour hand reminds me of the dinner time clocks with a fork and spoon

I told my wife, "Wanna see a watch you hate?"

"Ohhh, I hate that" she whispered.

We all know its hard to do something new in this space but this does nothing for me. At 50 pieces with rexhepi on the dial I am sure all sold.

This and his brothers latest releases feel very uninspired to me.

I hate to admit it but I need to feel *something* when buying a nicer watch.

Voutilainen does it, Gauthier does it, etc but not this.

Wow. I was not expecting the hate on this one. : ) This is curious. Aside from the hour “plate” hand and removing the Rexhepi last name (in order to objectively look at the piece), why and what exactly does this piece not work for you?

I appreciate everyone’s input.

I have a look at the photos of the prototype again, and was pleasantly surprised that the finishing of the prototype was better than the one on the rendering. The anglage is more "curved" on the prototype vs the rendering, and many interior angles

Doesn’t speak to me….. the differing hour and minute hands are not balanced. The semi hidden crown also unbalances the look…… the very curved lugs are too loud.

Nice shade of blue though.

I'm afraid the complication makes no sense. I get that it mimics the Swiss railway clock idea of the pause at the end of the complete minute before jumping, but why are there markers for 60 seconds around the seconds dial when it takes 58 for the seconds hand to do a full sweep? Should you actually be timing something using the seconds hand you would be up to 2 seconds wrong - clearly the seconds track should count to 58 which would also be kind of quirky which I like. Perhaps they've now updated it from the original render for the production pieces.

I just find it very boring. It doesn’t elicit any excitement for me. Plus the expectations for this release were very high.

Unfortunately not. I am trying to understand the piece but I would def jump in if the opportunity presented itself. I take such a long time deciding whether the piece is right for me. This delay can be to my detriment at times.

Thanks,

I hope brothers get along at one point again knowing how important family relations and brotherhood are for shqiptars.

Don't know details but collectors close to older brother did not even wanted to discuss this piece, and they unfollowed each other on Instagram like ex high school bffs

Agree. I heard the same stories which I try to stay away from and IF there are issues, I hope the family resolves them. I respect both of them as artist.

On the Minute Inertia, I am wishing him so much luck and can’t wait to see it in the flesh.

The Minute Inerte is still available, and the delivery is 1.5 year if you place an order today. He tries to do something not commonly seen in the watch world and it is a calculated risk I supposed. The movement has all the interior angles presented in such an unique way, like an artist who thinks out of the box. Check out the inward angles at the stainless steel components.

Reviving this thread…..has anyone gotten allocations or delivery of this piece?

For those that were on the fence 2 years ago, has anyone changed their minds about the piece ?

A friend got an allocation while he was at Geneva over one year ago. ETA is unknown. And he introduced me to Xhevdet but he’s been ghosting me for over a year. And I give up now which is probably a good thingas as I am already over budget for the next couple of years with the expected incomings.

But it is nice that he added the remonitre to the movement and keeps the same price for the people who already paid the deposit.

For the same price and adding a remontoire is fantastic.

I am definitely in the minority but I prefer
the Minute inerte over the Chronometre Artisan.

Similar in price but production numbers of the Simon Brette vs Xhevdet is a lot, to me.

If you don’t mind me asking what was the deposit ?

The standard practice is 50% but if the ETA is over 2 years it will be 30%. And you will get another invoice when it gets closer for the remaining 20%.
