Opinions on 5513 from 84
Looking at a Maxi V 5513 from 84 full set on tropicalwatch. Insert and hands look correct to me. The case has been touched up but looks like there is a small area of corrosion between the lugs. Could that be removed or would that be to risky with the engraving? Also is the box/anchor/hang tag correct for Submariners from this time? Seems priced at a premium but would be cool to have correct box and accessories along with papers and the watch.

Leave others to comment on the watch.
Quick look on the paraphernalia.... The translation should be printed 84 inside first page in green - btw first year of translation booklet I think prior to that a sheet) The very rare white writing on bottom sub book hopefully is correct 84 (showing matte 5513....the later 86 white writing book would show an incorrect 5513/0 gloss with WGS btw) Should have 84 white writing Your Oyster book too...(both should be printed USA last page) The non hologram Seal is correct (hologram from circa 86/87)....BUT it's not a C.O.S.C watch like a 5512 is, so it's actually erroneous to the watch but worth £100 !!! Stringed anchor, and the correct vinyl wallet and calender US papers (different no of dot stamps to EU for each letter/number) - btw looks like a 6 not 8 on poor photo... but I'm sure it's an 8 (8.5 million rough switch to gloss WGS btw) Correct US 2 fold non-cosc (eg not 3 fold cosc) Papers match the US bufkor box (no cushion !?) , but the papers are not dealer stamped of course.

You are not likely to see the corrosion between the lugs with the bracelet installed.

That box looks identical to the one that came with my ‘84. I do not have a box insert but only the pillow. Also mine is a WG spider dial for what it’s worth. Beautiful looking watch to my untrained eyes.

That's a belter.
Case is in outstanding condition, rust is not an issue. Go for it, whatever and in whichever way box and papers were put together, if they were. |
