Just Plain Stupid People.
I recovered from a skip today,on a walk back from the village, a good looking PC tower, got it home and plugged every thing in. And low and behold Windows XP Pro started up, there were 2 accounts none were password protected. On having a look round as you do, found some photos not my type 2 men on the bed,and a few more quite saucy if you know what I mean. Then another look round and found both there CSV’s every thing you need to get your self credit cards, driving licenses clone there identities etc etc. I will wipe it clean and keep it as a second PC its an AMD 1800+ built in sound and graphics card 256mg ram 60gig hard drive its OK for nothing. But it remains just how stupid some people are today about there personal details.

Same problem with cell phones/PDAs. People will put their old models up for sale on fleabay or the like, not realizing that their personal info is still in memory, even though they thought they erased it (assuming they thought about erasing it in the first place).
It's very easy to get erased data back with a few simple software tools. The only sure way to erase it is to take the memory out and burn it or smash it into microscopic bits.

You got it Peter! One of our leading DA's (now he's not so leading anymore) did just the same thing. It was recovered by a taxidriver who found not only very lewd porn but also hugely confidential files and took it to an investigative reporter with an own TV show. What a complete moron that DA!
