Vintage Datejust 16233 Dial Authentication
Help please!
Came across this vintage Datejust 16233 with black dial and diamond hour markers. As you can see in the image, there are is no minute track. I've been searching for similar models and have yet to find a dial that doens't have a minute track. I'm susepcting that the dial may be aftermarket! Any vintage datejust experts care to help? |

Caveat: I'm not a vintage Rolex expert by any means.
Initial take: The lack of minute track strikes me as odd. I know Rolex has made a few all black dials with nothing except the text & date aperture, but I don't think they made those dials with diamond-mounted indices. I could be wrong; I haven't been today yet.

Normally the coronet is a dead giveaway on AM dials. Here it’s not so easy. Coronet looks Gen imo. Considering the lack of minute hash marks, I think you might be correct in your suspicions.
Hard to say with this one, honestly.
