Help from Datejust/OP experts Please and thank you
There is a particular dial that I find striking on a DJII - Its called silver but seems less stark and a warm silver, almost champagne but I know its not. Might just be certain light BUT DJII is not my preferred reference.
I cant seem to find anywhere where colors are numbered but what I am trying to discern is this Is this particular dial shade unique to the DJII or might it be found in the DJ41 or even 36. and lastly in the OP? The options in these two models are dizzying and so hard to keep track of Starting with the color/shade & elegant simplicity, I am trying to figure out what to hunt for. 36 v 41 (or 39) DJ v OP 7.25 wrist. I had the most beautiful 1971 black dial 1603 that i regret letting go, but when I saw this dial i started to think about modern options. Hope this dont sound too scatterbrained and with all the posts about pepsis and batmans etc etc, was hoping to latch on to a DJ?OP fan that can help

Cool watch and I am a fan of the DJII and the DDII. It is the lighting in the picture. No mistaking the silver dial in a DJII for anything other than what it is and it is not the color of the dial in this picture.

It’s possible that the silver hue has changed from the DJ2 to the DJ36-41 …. Just a guess.

Hi Seabreeze, I have my DJII since 2012 and I think it's exactly the dial you are talking about. The colour of the dial changes from light copper/brown to almost silver, depending on the source of light, e.g. sun or indoor lights. Sometimes it is too silver for me, I like it when it is darker. It is very difficult to take a picture and catch the colours. But the sunburst dial is actually very beautiful, I still love my DJII and I will send it very soon to RSC Geneva for servicing.

I have the OP 36 in silver, which has the warm, almost champagne, color, to which you refer. It also has yellow gold hands, indices, and coronet, which makes it quite striking:

My watch only comes with yellow gold accents. Naturally, it is also available in 41 mm. I will say pics do not do it justice. It is absolutely stunning, IRL. Kat Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Hi Seabreeze,
I have this Heuer Autavia with a similar silver dial. It does the exact same thing that Chefinspecteur describes. It changes from a silver, to a light bronze, to a light copper color depending on the light. I don't know why it happens, but it's a cool effect. |

126000-0001 I had to check the white tag. As good as my memory is, I cannot keep all the reference numbers straight. BTW, regarding what you said about the usual popular references: this silver dial Oyster Perpetual is actually my very favorite reference, in the entire current Rolex catalogue. Call me crazy, but sometimes “less is more”. It is truly elegant, in its simplicity. Kat Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
