I remember seeing this thread a while back (this year), and then remembered the title. Wanted to come in and gloat, but now I'm noticing I'm too late!

Well, to be fair, his opinion was incorrect, but he is pretty close to correct on #1, #2, #4, #5, #6.
#3 also seems to be an opinion...and you know what those are like. It is pretty remarkable that Rolex has such complications in a SS model... |

He was right about the Bezel being WG. It is not 100% Stainless Steel Sky Dweller.

Just picked up mine last week! I was going to go with the TT Bluesy but I decided to go with the Blue Sky. Love the unique look and functionality of it. Sure it could be mistaken for a Blue dial DJ41 but so does the President to a DJ (to the untrained eyes). I like that only someone who knows Rolexes can tell the difference. The TT Bluesy is a loud watch that screams at people. I wanted to be a little more subtle for an $18k watch (CAD MSRP price incl taxes, but I got a good discount on it).

I can only hope that Rolex will never offer the Day-Date in stainless steel. Perhaps it sounds snobbish, but it is my one grail watch, and one of the reasons I love it is because of it's exclusivity. Everyone is entitled, for their one reasons, a special attainment in life. There are numerous Rolex models available in stainless steel, and I own two of them. If, for some reason, I am unable to afford at DD40, then I shall be more than happy with my two OP34s. And I will never resent the fact that the DD40 is only available in precious metal. I think that Rolex owes that to this iconic model.
Not wishing to offend any Sky-Dweller owners, but I have never been a fan of this watch as far as the aesthetics are concerned. On the other hand, I totally admire the engineering and capabilities of the fantastic movement. Cheers, Carl

Another proof that no one can predict what Rolex does in the future. Just like all those predictions before watches and wonders. It’s fun to speculate but it’s nothing more than that.
