Advice on new old datejust

Local AD called me about a datejust I looked at in the past. They are doing 15% off plus no tax. Seems decent, but its a D serial number. They received the watch in Aug 06. Is this a bad idea? The watch is brand new but has been sitting there. Does it already need a service 5 years from manufactured date? Any advice is appreciated

Cheers

I think you can do way better here in the salescorner.15% off on a d datejust is no sale or deal. Is he giving you 15% off the d MSRP or the new MSRP ?Do the math on that 1 big spread there.I have seen and herd up to 35% off on similar.

Yeah, that is the big question here. 15% off '06 prices is pretty good, but 15% off today's prices is quite a different thing. Good luck!

IMO, you should be able to do 20-25% easily at an AD and more if you keep an eye out on TRF. That's a very old model and they should be talking 30% just to move it.

Depending on where you live, 15% off and no tax is a very good deal for brand new from a Dealer...

If the watch is brand new, it doesn't matter that it says D on the serial... There are a lot of D serials still in display cases around the world.. Rolex considers the watch "born" on the date of purchase and the warranty will be valid for the next 2 years...

You do not need to get the watch serviced..... use the purchase date and not what you guess might be a build date..

Couldn't do it. Tried on a sub for the first time. Fell in love instantly. I finally understand what all of you have been talking about.
