It looks real to me. No obvious flaws from what I can tell. The only way to really tell now is to open it up and look at the movement.

Good fakes have all of the hallmarks you are looking for as well. The best way is to take the watch to a Rolex watchmaker and have them examine it and open it up than you will know for sure 100%.The rest is just speculation based on bad pictures

Are you sure it's from 2003? Dials with "SWISS" only are from the years 1997-1998 with the serials U or A. It's when Rolex was transitioning from Tritium to Luminova markers.
Although it looks good to me, I'm positive it's not an F unless he had the dial replaced with a NOS one. Also, if it's from 1997-1998, the laser etched crown won't be there.

Cant be a Y serial. Y serial would have the SOLID END LINK bracelet. The watch pictured does not. The dial would also read "swiss made"....not just "swiss" Now..the "swiss" marking on the dial could indicate that it is an "A" serial watch...which would make more sense considering the bracelet is correct that period (around 1999) if you post a photo of the clasp of the bracelet..the clasp code could reveal the age as well...HOWEVER som service dials were also marked "swiss" and not "swiss made" so it could be a replacement luminova dial on an older serial....which originally had a tritium dial....most likely..Im going to say this is an A serial Explorer II...and it is def. Genuine...the A serial model would NOT have the laser etched coronet.

On the clasp above steelinox is it marked? This info is just to try and date the clasp not the watch.
1997 Z 1998 Z or W 1999 X 2000 AB 2001 DE 2002 DT 2003 AD 2004 CL 2005 MA 2006 OP 2007 EO Also for the watch have you taken off the band and seen the letter Y? 1998 / 1999 A (from Nov.) 1999 / 2000 A 2000 / 2001 P (from Jan.) 2001 / 2002 K (from Sept.) 2002 / 2003 Y (from Sept.) 2003 / 2004 F (from Sept.) 2004 / 2005 F

Rolex is almost always producing more than one serial letter at a time, just like M and V are both being produced now..

also..the BIGGEST issue with the fakes..is the hand stacks! they cant get them right. I have seen some come in with correct hand stacks...but they are still off...

The watch look Ok to me but its not a Y based on the band. Solid end links came in with the P series, 2000 to 2001, no lug hole from then on.
hope this helps cheers benio |
